Cleaning Carpet liners

I bought the Zilla carpet liner for my corn. I just got it so I haven't come to cleaning the poop yet. I was wondering if anyone has this product and the best effective way to clean it. I know that once or twice a week I will remove it for a deep clean. But, my wuestion is about spot cleaning it. Is there a carpet cleaner on the market where I can spot clean this product? Or soap and water. When I cleaned the little poop she made it leaves a white stain.

I've never used them, but I have seen people recommend to users that they buy two so they can be changed with the weekly poop, and the other can be thoroughly cleaned. I'd be afraid that using anything wet might lead to mold or bacterial growth underneath the carpet or within the fibers.

*edit*

Are there specific cleaning directions that came with the product?

You really need to take the carpet out and wash it in soap and water. As Lori said, it should be dried before you put it back. I think you will find that although they look nice they are a lot of work to keep clean and in time will start to smell.

You may want to consider some type of substrate like shredded aspen when the snake starts making big poop. It is much easier to clean than carpet.

Not really directions, it just says clean with cold water. My issue was the spot clean if needed to remove the stain. I tried aspen bedding, although it's good my snake burrows and is gone baby gone. Now I know snakes love to hide, and even with the carpet I have multiple hides as well decorative wood pieces form the pet store she can hide in or around, the carpet keeps it so If i need or want to observe her I can. I was thinking of putting a thin layer of the zilla fir bark down so I can remove the soiled pieces, yet it's to thin for her to burrow. What do you think?

I like carpet, but I have to agree with Wade...now putting down a layer of substrate might work for you, but I'd still be afraid of urine getting through a thin layer and into the carpet fibers. If it were me and I was set on it, I'd have several pieces of carpet so I could just remove one every cleaning. I'm sure you could use regular outdoor carpet and get it much less expensively.

I say go for it. I have the zilla fir bark for one of my corns. I think it cleans up nicely and its good to help with shedding too. I dislike spot cleaning. Most people tell me they're afraid of it harboring bacteria, unless you change the entire thing at a time. Thats a little time consuming though. I like the bark.

Oops, I'm sorry, I read the last question wrong. I thought you wanted to put the bark OVER the carpet. :)

Does your corn burrow with the bark or is it to heavy and thick? My problem with the aspen is she burrows and I can never see her. It's not just about me viewing her for my pleasure but to keep an eye and make sure she is healthy and alert and stuff like that. I've only had her for a little over a week so i'm sure in time she'll be more active, but for now she pretty much avoids me...lol

I used to use reptile carpet. Snakes love it. They can burrow under it and make permanent tunnels. Which makes them hard to track down. I have even used it with aspen over it, because the snakes loved their burrows so much. Eventually, I took it out and- what a relief. To clean it, I had two pieces and would throw the dirty one in the washer, and then hang it out in the sun to dry and further disinfect. It gets soft, but cleans very well that way.

When I kept tortoises on it, I would find fibers of it in their poo. I don't think that is good at all...
