Hi all. I've saved some birthday money to build something to house the kids. I've seen a few pics of what appear to be extremely translucent tubs. I did a few searches but didn't come up with any brand names. Right now they're little and I have three in critter keepers and one in a glass tank, but I want to give them more space. I'm willing to build something using plexiglass, but if I can buy some tubs that are just as clear, that would really be a lot easier on many counts. Any recommendations on brands of really really clear tubs? Thanks for your advice!
 
After doing a fair bit of research on tubs I believe that IRIS has some clear or darn close to clear tubs. I find them hard to find in Canada though :(

Thanks for the advice! Sorry I was so late in responding--somehow I missed your reply until now. I'll look into that, and I'll let you know how it goes. If it turns out I can get them and they are fabulous, I'll ship you some!

Do you have a Target store near you? Sorry for my ignorance but I have no idea which states have them or not. If you do have one, check their home organization aisle, they are the ONLY, store that I have seen TRUE clear tubs in and yes they are hard to find.

Like you say you can go the Plexiglas route but we just went through that ourselves somewhat. We bought some to make, sliding glass front on our homemade viv and let me tell you ..... that stuff is not cheap at all!! Not sure if it is priced different in other areas but a 4 foot long piece cost us $42.00 plus tax. (OUCH :eek: )

If you can't find the clear, I would go ahead and purchase the opaque ones, which are cheap and just take some time looking for the others so you are not so stressed with the time factor of finding them. Plus, hey..you will have some left over storage containers when you are done to stick stuff in ( in my case, stuff that I probably should throw out ) but hey that is a horse of another color and I won't go there, I already have to defend my choice to keep the junk I do around here lol.

Check Target when you get a chance, if you have one, and let me know if you find them.

You might be interested in looking up Faunariums. They won't be large enough for your snakes when they're adults, bet you can get some large tubs which would certainly house a corn snake up to a certain age. If you plan on buying more hatchlings, you can keep recycling your tubs for the young arrivals ;)

Faunariums are actually made for reptiles and are CRYSTAL clear!
