college and a corn snake

I'd try hiding it, so long as the reprecussions of getting caught are not something like being kicked out of the dorm. If they'll make you get rid of it, pay a fine etc., and you can deal with that, just bring it and hide it well. However, have a back up plan in place in case you do get caught and have to get rid of it. I am currently hiding a corn in my house, because my mom would flip if she knew I had it. My dad really wouldn't mind though. During the semester, the snake actually did live on campus in one of my classes. At home now I have her in a clear plastic tub with a latching lid, which is inside of another, larger, colored plastic tub so that nobody can see anything. I drilled a hole in the bottom of the colored outer container and ran the cord of the heat pad out through that. I have several other cords running around the floor in that area, so that one doesn't really look suspicious.
I also made sure, before I bought the snake, that a friend of mine would be able to take her if I got caught, or i'd see if she could go back with the professor whose class I kept her in during the semester if the friend fell through.
 
UBER GOOD NEWS!!

I talked to my room mate and she said she would have no problems with her (or the dead mice in the freezer) I'm leaving her with my friend for a few weeks untill I get settled and learn what college really is. Then I have a under the bed Rubbermaid that I shall drill holes in for the UTH and for a lock. If the worst should happen and she is discovered I get one warning before I get a deadline/fine to find an alternate home. I could also talk to my professors when I get there and the local vets.

And as for the collage I've been already thinking of what I am going to do with my corns snakes once I go to collage, because that is why my parents are refusing to let the collection expand indefinitely. As said, finding someone on the forums to take care of your snake is the best option, but I still like the idea of hiding them underthe bed, or in the closet or something!! :grin01:

The landlord has to give 24 hrs notice before inspecting the apartment. So I just send the critters with my kids to my ex's for the day....LOL

I hope it works out. The rubber maid sounds like a good idea. You might want to get some clips to really clamp it down though. When I was in the dorms my snake escaped and ended up in all places my RA's room. She freaked out and tried to kill it. I'm really glad she had horrible aim and that someone was there to put the snake in a shoe box and return it later to me.
