Hi, I am new to the snake world and so many people are full of advise but I was told that this is the place to go for reliable info.
Can someone please tell me what age a corn snake is when it reaches sexual maturity and is it true that they become feisty around this time and is one sex worse for this than the other or are they the same?.Thanx
 
Corns can reach sexual maturity at a young age, especially in males. However in captivity is it reccommended that females not be bred under 300 grams, 3 years old, 3 ft in length (rule of three). Its been known for yealing males to go at it quite happily though.

It is true that males will go on hunger strike during the breeding season, but will resume as normal after being bred or left to wait it out!
 
They do become more "sexually fiesty" around this time, as we are approaching mating season. The males may be a little more fiesty than a female. In the wild, a lot of the times males will compete with other males for the mate. I do *beileve* in the wild, the male ratio may be a little bigger than the female ratio.

Males will go on the search for a female. So if you have a male, he may be a little more active than normal...
