***Consumer Report Aspen Review***

That's too much trouble, Ter. We should, however, meet half-way for lunch or something soon since you baled on me last weekend. ::cough:: ;) Maybe you can bring me some then?

I'm going to try to drag myself down to the reptile show on Saturday since I need mice, so I'll see what I can find there.

I'm always up for lunch! Preferable when you are less contagious.:dancer: I'll happily bring you a bale.

Huh. I use Premier Pet and have no complaints about it.

I use it too with out complaint. However I have only used it for a snake for about a month. I use it mostly to fill my rabbit's litter box, she easily overpowers any odor from the aspen. Especially, if I am neglectful in changing her litter box.

Should I really change to another brand?

I have noticed that my baby snake seems to have trouble burrowing into it because of the size of the chips and its tendency to compact. However she has plenty of hides and she can burrow through it easier than a paper towel or repticarpet.

After reading this, I looked over at my almost empty bag of aspen and wondered about the brand...it is, indeed, Premier Pet. Danny's collection is humongous, so that might be a factor, but I have this brand in six tubs and have no offensive odor at all. :shrugs:

I've got a 4 cubic feet bag that is hardly touched Let me know if you want it on your next trip and I'll stash it in a closet.

Maybe I should start selling the stuff again.....too bad shipping is as much as the shavings though. :nope:

Did you have the T-Rex brand? I can only find little dinky bags, any idea on where to buy copious quantities?

Nope, I get the large 2.2 cu feet bales of Harlan Sani-Chips and order 30 at a time. They are heavy and ground shipping alone is usually around $20 and then you add $20 for the bag....and it isn't cheap to get them anywhere. My supplier comes once a month and is over 5 hours away.

I can get the harlan shredded aspen as well but that is about it. My supplier does the university lab stuff so it is all that kind of stuff...lab chow, etc.

Jeff if you are paying $20 a bag you're getting ripped off. I pay $8 for a bale at the feed store. They usually charge $12 but give me a deal because I'll buy 10 at a time. It was sold at Tinley for $8 a bag as well; both the shredded and the chips.
Jeff they have a location in Indianapolis and two in MI. You might want to contact them to see if their is a lab in the Cleveland area that is using their products or a feed store that sells it. I've used a lot of products and this stuff is the best by far. I have allergies to everything under the sun and the low dust factor is great for people like me.

Ordering from Drs Foster and Smith worked well. I ordered on the 1st and they arrived today; bye-bye barn smell!

Nice thing is that shipping is 5.99 whether you order 1 or 10.

Sweet, thanks, Danny. I'll be in in mid-december. Better lock up that rhino, though!
