coral ghosts

stephen

corn breeder
I was wondering what I should breed my coral ghost female to I originally thought I had 2 females but one female turned out to be a male (lol),so since you dont see very many really nice coral ghosts I was thinking about breeding the two together, the original plan was breeding them both to a male bloodred to make hets ,I would like to hear what you think :shrugs:

OMG what a lovely corn snake i would go to the hets side as someone may purchase a hatchling of you (coral ghost) for their breeding purposes and then when he/she breeds them with another snake they might all turn out classic and het for coral ghosts and they may want to have coral ghost hatchlings but im not that good with genetics so better wait till an experienced member tells you

It really all depends on what your ultimate goal is. If you want eventually produce ghost bloods, then breed the female to the bloodred. Breeding the ghost pair together will probably produce some nice ghost hatchlings with the look you like, but you may still end up with some "average" ghosts in the clutch. Trust me on this one.

Oh, and if you ever decide that the male no longer fits into your breeding plans, let me know. I need some new blood in my ghost project!

It's not nice to hijack someone else's thread to ask a completely off-topic question. Do a search for 'bulb' or 'lamp' in the husbandry forum. If you must, start a thread there.

Max, I do not believe Dean meant that as "yelling" at you. He simply stated proper netiquette and did steer you towards what to do. What you did was just like walking into a room of strangers where a posted subject discussion was taking place and then start talking about your own topic. The same etiquette applies to the virtual world as it does in the 'physical' world. Most newcomers to the forums know basic etiquette and don't cut into someone else's thread, thus, maybe what Dean said came off as harsh to you, but if he wanted to "yell" at you, believe me, his words would have been different.

So, please don't take any of this or Dean's as telling you off, just as help in learning proper netiquette. Please ask any questions you like and people will try and help you out with answers, just either start your own thread or ask a question in someone else's thread only if it has to deal with the topic of the thread.

You can also do a search for many topics and find a lot of answers already given. In fact, I think it is much better when you first get on a forum site, when you are trying to learn, to do a lot of reading of old posts. You will be surprised at how much information you can get and learn from before you start asking questions. Right now I am trying to learn a lot about boas, their genetics (which a very different from corns), husbandry and breeding, and I am doing a lot of reading of the boa forums to pick up as much info as I can.

Good luck with everything and I hope you enjoy the forum and the people here. There are a lot of good people willing to share their knowledge. :)

Stephen, that is a beautiful ghost you have there. Man, I think I would have to think that one out also. BUT, I have to say, I love bloodred "projects" and I think I (personally) would opt for the bloodred breeding with my eyes on future breedings of the F1's. And I would think you could expect some "different" looking ghost bloods using the looks of that female.

Best of luck with whichever way you decide to go. :)
