Corn snake as a demonstration snake?

Wadjet's family
Allidraggy's birthday party is today, and I haven't gotten a return contact back from the guy who was supposed to bring the boa. My gut feeling is that we don't have a snake.

Alli would like to bring Wadjet. We do have her feeding tank that we could bring her in, and we can up the heat in the room she'd be in (and give her a room to herself so she wouldn't be right in the middle of all the chaos-we could have a few kids in at a time), and we could cover the tank when she's not showing off. She's handled kids before-just never in this quantity, and she's never bitten anyone since we've had her (I have heard her rattle once, when I was holding her and one of the cats came really close). She last ate Sunday, so she's pooped this week.

Is this at ALL reasonable? Or should I just tell Alli, flat out, that we don't have a live snake for her party, because it would be too stressful on Wadjet?

Realize the party may have already started (time zone). I wouldn't heat the room I think an overly warm snake can stress more then a cool snake. Many people take snakes to shows thats what it's about. Maybe just let Alli or you handle the snake let the kids touch, if you see signs of stress put the snake away.
 
We took snakes to the school a couple times the sat in a circle we put the snakes in the middle the kids really got excited 'who the snake liked best'. We didn't let the kids hold them though.
 
How old of a snake are we talking about? A baby, I wouldn't even consider. A 4 footer with a good temperament, I'd bring in a heartbeat.
 
I'm pretty sure Widget is an adult. I say go for it, and just play it by ear. I took Ala to my daughter's preschool and ended up letting two teachers hold her and all the kids do a two-finger touch, because she didn't show signs of stress. If Widget does, then just make it a quick appearance and no touching.

And yeah, cooler is better. Widget would be more lethargic. ...not ridiculously cold, of course. But you wouldn't want it that cold for any of the guests. :)
 
Wadjet is a 5 yr old four footer. We ended up not bringing her, mostly because we weren't confident about her staying in her feeding tank without someone to watch her, and weren't sure that we'd have an extra adult to do so. The kids had fun without the snake, but I wish we'd had the red-tail :(.
