corn snake set ups

My appologies to those animal lovers who do work there! Sorry!

Is there anywhere local to get a good affordable thermostat?

I don't know of one that can control that many at once o_o maybe someone else can recommend them to you. The only thermostat that I have any experience with is the the Reptitemp500 and it only controls 2 units :/

Unfortunatly the reptitemp500r only has one probe. But I only have one set up :shrugs:
I'm sure others will be able to recomend something else.

Well how does that work for it to control two units and only have one probe? Sorry, I'm ignorant when it comes to thermostats.

Ha, well thanks anyway! Maybe someone else will look at this thread sooner or later?

Broadening the subject a bit, I keep all of my corns in tubs right now, but I'm planning to change that.

I'm thinking about either getting 20g's and putting them on my rack. If I do I would turn them on their sides and build a hinged lid for the front (should be the top) of them. If I do this, which type would be better: Plexiglass with holes drilled and smoothed for or fiberglass screen?
Otherwise I will build wooden (white partical board) cages about the same size. The question here is: will my heat from the uth get through this wood and is this safe? If not, is plexiglass safe? I could use plexiglass for the bottom if that would work, I don't have the tools to make the bottom out of real glass.

I'm looking for any sort of suggestions, alterations, and ideas! Still looking for knowledge/experience with thermostats too, does it have to be a pet thermostat for some reason? Thanks.

The thermostat only controls one UTH, and then it matches the other one. So the set ups have to be similar- same size tank, same size and preferably brand UTH, though I have two double set ups with one ZooMed UTH and one ExoTerra UTH and they seem to be ok.

500R can control two UTHs. The Big Apple BAH 1000 can control three UTHs.

um...is there a cheaper thermostat? that works almost as good?

Well the Reptitemp 500r Costs $19.99 on the reptilesupply.com site which was the one I recommended to you before. You can also try searching on Ebay but I haven't seen it cheaper else where.

So this would be an investment of $100 minimum for thermostats for 5 setups. When controlling two at a time would it matter that the setups were a foot or two different in height, but over top of the same floor space in the room?

Anyone have any reply to my cages post? Please.

no that wouldn't matter because the heat is comming from the bottom not from the top...and you can also control your heat with out a termastate.....al you have to do it just over a period of 2 to 3 days keep putting space between your tank and your uth until you reach a good heat for you snake...that way you dont need to spend the money on the termastate
