hello! i have two corns and two cats. one of my cats in particular is very interested in whatever the corns are doing.. the other one will watch occaionally. they have learned to stay away while the corns are out though and will sit at a distance and watch.

do you think the corns would be scared of the smell of cats in the air? or would they just get used to it like they do of humans?

i jokingly tell my cats (yes i talk to them :p) "be nice to the snakes cos they will be big enough to eat you one day!"
 
My snake is around my cat all the time, and doesn't seem bothered a bit. She even stretches out to check her out with her tongue. Hmmmm, too big to eat......
 
I have a dog which is hardly intrested in my snakes at all, but if the dog is sitting next to me on the sofa while im holding a snake, the snake may bit the dog on her nose. This has only happand twice though.

Oddly, my dog has a huge interest in my corn. I'll be holdin my snake while, say, watching t.v. out of nowhere, my dog will just lay in front of us, sniffing and looking, and rolling around in front of us

i'm careful not to let the dog get too close, though..
 
My sister's cat managed to weedle it's way upstairs once and found itself face-to-face (well, through glass) with Sir Charlesbottom. The Sir was evidently less than pleased about this because after a few moments of still and silent intimidation, he struck at the glass. Poor pussy cat jumped so far in the air I thought it was going to hit the ceiling and then fled as though it's life depended on it.

Never again has one of my four-legged friends got into this room!

It was quite a sight yes, I did scream with laugher (and a little bit of shock) at first then went racing after puddytat myself to make sure he hadn't had a heart attack or something. Bless.
 
Corns & Dogs...

Here's a Pic of my Chihuahua "Bud", for some reason he's always been very tolerant of snakes, but give him a mouse, & he's an instant Killer, guess I'll never have to worry about that problem having mice around the house, hehe, Marsh..

Thanx, I've always liked that one, actually, i have a pic somewhere of him with all 4 of my snakes around his neck, he just sat there, it all started the first time when I had one on the ground & he came up when I wasn't looking & just sat down beside him & licked the snake, never has tried to hurt them in any way, but again, if one of the snakes won't eat, I give the mice to bud to play with, & he kills them for me, then I put them in the freezer & feed at a later time, anyway, thanx for the reply, Marshall P..
 
I also have two cats one just doesnt care about them at all and the other stalks them he watches them for hours he even taps the tank with his paw but when i lift the lid off you dont see him for dust hes a big scaredy cat really

That's an awesome picture of the snake and the dog! I'm sure when it is larger you won't want it holding to the dog's neck like that.

My corn seems a little nervous of my large dog, but I can't blame her. She is still quite small, so unless we're walking through the house for some reason, I prefer to keep the dog out of the room while the snake is out. I wouldn't want any accidents if she managed to fall off of me. The Chihuahua on the other hand usually keeps away from my small animals, she is not used to them though, so I don't have any intention of 'introducing' them. They do fine in the same room however, I have control of the snake and the dog will mind about her own business :)
 
i've never had a problem, i keep my snake in my room at all times and the dog isn't allowed in the room. although i have a hunting dog, a lab, and she knows the snake is in there. i catch her always sniffing like crazy after i hold snake. or she's always super interested in the feeding cage when i walk past her with it. i've never let them meet though. i'm too scared one might hurt the other. that's a crazy picture with the snake and dog..not crazy so much as amazing i guess:cool:
 
my dad has a japanese akita called logan

and my dad can put his normal adult corn on logans back and he walks around the house giving the snake a ride as it lays still on his back!
the snake allso loves to snuggle under logans warm belly its a great site to see.
i will try and get a photo of it next weekend if the snake has shed;)
