Corns in Cross Stitch

I have been stitching for about as long as I have been keeping snakes, 20+ yrs. Anyway I thought why not combine my 2 passions and specialize in stitching snakes. Send me a pic and I'll stitch your snake, that sort of thing. Just wanting to see if this sparks any interest. Gotta do something to support my Corn Snake habit.
Thanks for looking

I think it's a great idea! Great job on the color and detail on that example!
I wish I could afford one right now. :awcrap:

Very very pretty!

I used to cross-stitch back when I was in elementary school, from templates and such. But wow, such good work for free hand. =D

I agree, how much do you charge? It'd be interesting to get some done and have them framed and matted to be hung beside my reptile pictures (when I get that project done). =P

These things can be very simple or highly detailed. The example was simple, I only used 24 colors and worked it on Aida cloth. It would probably go for $15-20 on ebay. Also it depends on how much time I have to spend in Photoshop to get the snake removed from the background. The best ones are done on linen with 40-50 colors, but are very time consuming, up to a month to complete. I would consider trading for more corns as well. I am pretty open to anything as this is just an idea I had.
Thanks for your interest.

I would be thrilled if you could reproduce a photo for me! I will get it clipped out myself for you (I am a Graphic Artist, I do that sort of thing often - but seeing I work for a biker magazine, I'm usually clipping girls and bikes). Let me look through the photos I have now (and maybe take new), from there I will email you what I'd be interested in you reproducing for me. :)

Mike - that is very impressive indeed - beautiful. If that was a simple example, I can't believe how complex the complicated ones must be - can you post more pics??
Very nice!

This is the only other snake I've done. It was just a pattern, not from a photo. I have some complex examples, but they aren't snakes. I don't think I should post them here, But I could Email you one if you like.

Done! I started a new thread in the general chit chat entitled "For Taceas"
Let me know what you think
BTW what does -D, -P mean?

Latest Work- CSM Cover Snake

Well, I just finished this one today and thought I'd share it with you.
In hindsight, I wish I'd used a redder color for the main body, but I'm still pleased. I haven't decided whether to frame this and hang it in the Corn Room
or send it to Kathy and Bill. Opinions?

wow!!! that is great, you have a real talent there Mike. I'd be tempted to frame it and keep it for myself... unless it was a trade for the real thing..... :)

Beautiful! I really need to get a nice shot of a corn or two to see how much it would cost you to reproduce. I would love to have those hanging on the walls of my reptile room!

You are one very talented Cross Sticher. I will have to look into getting you to do a couple for me. Wonderful work.

*Hand up* Another one here who would be interested! Wish I had the talent and patience for something like that.. Truly lovely.

Thanks for the kind words everyone, this is a real passion for me. My Ex-Wife taught me how to do this many years ago and I just really enjoy it. Doing the snakes takes it to a whole new level for me. And yes, itsnowingcorns, I ship worldwide. I've been toiling for hours in photoshop , trying to get Rich's Serpenco Logo made into a decent pattern, maybe in a month or two I'll have something new to post.
Thanks again all

Mike B
