Last night I took my new snake out of her viv for the first time since I got her.It had been 5 days,and 1 feeding, so I figured she would be up for it.
As I watched her crawl around my fingers,weaving in and out,I couldn't help but smile :) .Such a cool little critter.
I love looking in the photo section at the differant snakes people get.It's one cool color after another.I can see how its hard to have JUST ONE.
It reminds me of when I used to keep a salt water tank.Before my kids came along,it was not uncommon for the wife and I to go to the local aquarium shop and drop $80 or more on a cool new addition to our tank.Salt water fish are just plain electric in color,and even seem to have a "personality" to them.
You look at a salt water fish through the glass,and he will stop and look back at you.Fresh water,forget it,they just chase bubbles and try to eat the poop comming out of the fish in front of them :puke01: .
So,with that image in your head,,its nice to know that your corn will look at you, when your looking at him.It would be TOO convenient to be able to keep more than one snake in a viv, at a time.
I know my snake would have 2 or 3 "buddies" to keep him company :grin01:
 
I really agree with you, REALLY! I think I've got around 150 of the little buggers up in my snake room now! LOL! Not doing to badly though, fed, cleaned and watered 75 tonight in 2 hours :)

I know I love the convenience of rack systems. They sure help when you want to have so many of the different colours around to ogle at! Oh well, my numbers should be dropping, significantly if sales go as well as I hope! :)

Actually, I was quite happy for five years with just the two that my daughter & I had, although I wasn't hanging around here :) But with the death of our ghost, I've discovered one is not enough, so we'll be looking for at least one other one. Apparently two was enough to keep me happy... one is not :)

A job is something you do for money and don't really enjoy. A career is something you do because you enjoy it, and as an added bonus you make a bit of cash from it.

I'd take that second career. :grin01:

I agree totally. This site is dangerous for me. Every day I come on here and see more pics and add yet another species to my list of "must haves." Yesterday was African House Snake... who knows what today will bring. :rolleyes:

But depending on the person it can take the fun out of it. I'm now much happier being a horse owner than a horse trainer. Of course, maybe part of it was the people involved :)

I guess I'm not really a snake person as I have no desire to own anything other than a corn... guess that makes me a corn person? :rolleyes:

I dont mean to hijack this thread but freshwater fish can be just as visibaly stunning and have just as much personality as salt. Lots of different species of freshwater fish will watch people outside of their tank.

Agreed. When I had angelfish--the freshwater kind--they would come up to the glass when I entered the room and almost seem to compete for my attention.

I think they were really thinking, "Everytime that thing appears, food falls from the sky."
 
LOL BeckyG, I dated a guy who had two goldfish that would all but jump out of the fish tank when he would appear in the morning :) The closest I had was a Betta, who I had in a 5 gal tank, not one of those little things. He used the whole tank and would follow your finger up and down the sides. I really missed him when he finally died on me.
 
In my lovely tasteful tank with angelfish, corydoras and black neons, I added this hybrid parrot chichlid. He is called Igor and is the most interactive fish I've ever had, he won't even let me get pics of the other fish becaus he he just seems to crave attention, displaying whenever I'm in the room!

Saltwater tanks are really neat, though I have never kept one myself, my understanding is that they can be a lot of work. Growing up with a single mom who wasn't into all of the strays I would bring home regularly did allow a fish "bowl" which I filled with black moores (sp?) It seemed they were constantly going "belly up", I didn't have an air pump and I was constantly changing out the water. Because I didn't understand the lack of oxygen in the water, I would spend hours with my hand in the bowl holding them upright and moving them back and forth forcing water through the gills until they had the strength to swim away only to start going belly up again a short time later. Then the process would start all over again. So I can't say they interacted with me but I sure did with them! One of my dad's rich friends has the most beautiful entry into his home. When you walk in it is a huge fish aquarium that runs through three walls and over two archways that lead to other areas of the house, the guy has to go snorkeling in his foyer to clean the aquarium!

Oh yeah, this is a snake forum :-offtopic One morph is not enough!
