I was 6 or 7...
when I got my first reptile pet, a box turtle. I kept it in a cardboard box for a couple of days. However, having grown up in the woods near the Tennessee River, I was always carrying something around--a jar full of frog's eggs, a lizard on the end of a string, a snake (corns or rattlers). I used to skin road kill snakes and wrap their skins around the handle-bars and seat support of my bike.
All that being said, I didn't buy my very first Corn Snake to keep and raise as a pet until 28 July 2000, when I bought one for my son. That would make me 48 then. It's been down hill from there--snake, after snake, after snake. Will it ever stop?
