Nice snakes Walter!

Are you going to produce many snakes this year? I see you didn't sell EVERYTHING! ;)

Hey Clint

How's it going man? Good I hope.
Actually, I did sell everything. I just recently got back a handful of the snakes I had in my collection. I'm glad to be back in action. I'm just going to keep it small scale, but higher end.

I got back 13 young adults and out of 7 females I got 6 to breed, so I will have a few babies this year. The best thing about it is, most of what I got back was new project animals that I started before I got rid of everything.

It's good to hear from you.
So, what's new for you this year?

Later, Walter :)

Dayne

Yes I do. here is a pic. of two racks that I have built so far. I still have 3 more to build to make a total of 5 racks. This will give me 35 enclosures.

Walter :)

Thanks Walter,im gonna talk to my dad about makin a rack like yours, where is ur heat cable on the back of the tubs or where.

Ur snake room looked really nice, why did u get rid of all ur snakes,if u dnt mind me askin.

Dayne:D

I don't use heat cables, or tape. I never did and never will. I just control the temps. in the room. I used to use lights at the back of each enclosure. This used to do two things for me, one produce heat at one end of the enclosure and two, act as the photo period.

I have done away with that also. I've never had problems with having my corns breed the way I do it now.

I just maintian the temps in the room and have the lights (florescent fixures) on timer switches for the photo period.
That's it and with successful results.

Walter :)

I'm glad to see you're back Walter!
I completely understand the downsizing, I think I'm going to put a cap on my collection size. I'm just not sure where yet.

My Butter Motley project should come through this year. I'm also excited that my Speckled amel male bred his mother, full sib sister and half sister. My Pinello het Pewters should produce and I should get some more Banded Motleys. My Okeetee Motley project is also doing well this year.
I'd better be careful, I'm counting eggs before they're even laid!

Thanks alot for ur help Walter,im gonna spk to my dad and start buildin lol.

Clint you are very lucky to have all those nice snakes,if only we had them here in South Africa, you have amazin snakes.

looks good Walter.

Downsizing was the best thing I could have done for myself. I still got a little burned out though. Its rough with my job. I cant get home for a few days sometimes and I think that takes the biggest toll on me. I know what you're saying, we all work, LOL. Anyway back to the snakes. I also heat my snake room but this year I got into heating the hatchlings and yearlings with heat tape and I must say, I have had much better growth rates and fewer "problem" feeders. Its just an observation of course. After reading a paragraph in Kathy's book, I decided to kick up the temperature this spring and boy am I happy. I have the room running at 84-86 degrees at all times. When I spot check the temp using the Temp gun from Pro exotics(a favorite toy of mine) I read 83-84 degrees in the front of each bin, and 80-81 to the rear of each bin which is close to the outside wall. Up until this season I have only kept my room at 82 and never checked temps inside the bins. As a result, my feeding and breeding was far slower and I didnt get eggs until Late May or June. This year with the warmer room, things are going crazy. Since I bought that temp gun, I realize some of the mistakes I made. I bought it "for the hell of it" but it turned out to be a valuable tool.

So Walter, that outstanding pair of Type A bloodreds I got from you bred for me this season and the females looks like she is swelling up nicely. Thanks again for them. Its good to see you.
