Cricket(s) driving me crazy

OK, so my housemate has a beardie which she feeds crickets. One (or possibly more) of the lil buggers has managed to escape and take up residence in the hall right outside my bedroom. It was driving me crazy last night. Chirp Chirp, Chirp, Chirp, Chirp :crazy01: And they are supposed to be silent ones... yeah right!

How long do they live for, and will they start multiplying if we dont manage to find/kill them soon? Will yer general bug-killer stuff work? :flames:

I went a bit more enviro-friendly and use cats lol. But yeah regular bug stuff works, but I'd recommend sticky traps instead of sprays and stuff.

Dawn (who no longer sleeps because she has a nocturnal, cricket-eating gecko in her room)

Goodluck finding them, when you do, if you find them alive, give them a second chance : ) i know a man who used to own a croc in the 80s or somthing and he fed it mice, well they learnt how to sit on the crocs head so it couldnt eat them, and once a mouce lasted about a week or so, and he took it off and let it go, my point : if these guys can servive dont just kill them : P there a life : )

Yeah, if i could catch them i would. The problem is somehow he has got up onto the beams on the ceiling. I think if i had a cat it would be going crazy too staring at the ceiling!! I think there is only one but my housemate says there are two, and we definitely don't want them multiplying on us!

Thats a great story about the croc! Charlie the beardie does the same..... if the crickets are sat on his back/head he doesn't even realise they are there!!

We feed crickets to our toads and when we had them, the anoles. The tiny ones would get out quite often and our cat usually hunted them down for us. The tape traps or some sort of sticky trap would work best though for catching them in cat free zones.

The other thing you can do is set out a small bowl or tupperware of water, place a few tape traps around it, and put out some small bit of food to lure them to the traps. They'll eat a bit and then they'll go for water or get stuck in the trap. If the water is deep enough, they'll drown.

Good luck...

Wow, and I paid $$ for a sound machine to make cricket noises for while I am sleeping...

I have to buy large crickets for my toad. I like how they sound.
