Down with the sickness
Let's hope this one makes it. I've been trying to produce a Brindle Merle for the last six months!

It's darling!!! I love the brindle / stripy mice. You absolutely have to post photos when it's another week or so old!! JenC posted pictures of another brindle baby mouse, I'll have to check back here for more photos of them both

Does the white color splashed across it's face make it a Merle? Sorry if this is a silly question :)

Pretty color, even for a rodent. :) Is there a real chance it won't live? Is there something wrong with it?

very cute! Nice and fat too~ I'll cross my fingers if you want~ but he looks fat enough to be fine!

Adorable!

That reminds me that I need to get some pics of my newest colors that have popped out. Be looking for a new thread soon! :)

Thanks everyone! It's the lighter "ticked" portions of brindle that makes him a merle I think. He came out of a Black/White/Grey Merle father and a really light Brindle "cow" mouse. I don't know what the correct terminology is. The father had brindle in his background and the mother merle so I was hoping they'd make one. Maybe this weekend I'll get a chance to take a pic of the parents.
The only reason I fear for his life is because I like him. He is healthy and both mom and her "nursing maid" are good mommies. I just never underestimate Murphy.

LOL. I swear I should have stuck with white lab mice. But how can a person that is facinated with genetics NOT get carried away with so many genes available, such quick turn around, and the "by-products" actually save me money? :crazy02:

Haha Designer Feeders. Nice. 'The only desinger feeders out there. The only mice fashionable enough for your fashionable snake' AHAHAHAHHAHA :roflamo:

Okay, I'll definitely give you 'fancy mouse breeders' that much! Better than waiting 9 months from brumation to hatching!!!

...not to mention the 3 or more years for each generation to mature to breeding age.

I'd love to see what the merle looks like. We have "splash" here and I'm wondering if they're the same thing. :) (Hurley has created pied splash brindles, so we will have some designer feeders, too.)

Wow, how time flies. I took some pics of the male and I didn't realize how old he is getting until looking at his recent pics close up. I did a search and found this baby pic dating back to January of 05! He is still fat and healthy and all his ladies have large litters.

Here is another pic of him just getting started in his breeding career.

And now the old man still has it, he must have fathered hundreds and hundreds.

Here are some pics of mom and the litter. Talk about a variety. I'm just realizing that I fed off that brown one with a little bit of ticking today. I meant to wait and see how it turned out but I forgot. :(
