Cupid and Psyche

Artz and Snakez
I must say handling my bf's boa made me really want one of my own...although we mostly share all the snakes and don't distinguish mine/yours/ours...except when it comes to cleaning up especially foul poops ;)

But anyway, when I had a chance to get a hypo boa for essentially free, I jumped on it! Okay, I exaggerate slightly...he wasn't precisely free. I had made arrangements with the manager of our local pet store to buy any hatchlings I produced and wasn't keeping (I had made these arrangements before I even bred the snakes to make sure I had an outlet for them, since we only wanted to breed once for the experience of it). When we were discussing arrangements for the snakes, he said he would be willing to entertain a trade if there was anything he had in the store that I'd be interested in, because we'd had our eye on a leucistic rat he's had there for a while. Unfortunately, I'd just seen that he had a young hypo red tail. I didn't really hold out much hope that he'd trade, but he was happy to (in fact, he worried that he was cheating me on the deal...but I was more than happy with it :D)

The hatchlings had their fifth mouse on Thursday, and today, he picked them up and brought us our new baby, Cupid.

He is named Cupid to make a pair with our Sonoran boa, Psyche (more commonly known as Bitey)

No, we're not planning to breed them, even though we have a male and female. I just thought it would be cute to have compatible names :) Plus, Cupid's a lovely shade of salmon/pink on his base, so it works :)

He's a little dull right now...the pet store manager said that he thinks Cupid's going into shed. I can't wait to watch him grow :)
