Dante and the Dragon

jlindp

Ophidiophile.
I took these at least 2 months ago and found them while searching for something else. Dante was obsessing over Kraven, my beardie, so I figured I'd let him get some physical contact, allow Dante to view Kraven as a "friend" and not a toy. The exercise worked well and Dante doesn't freak out anymore when I take Kraven out for handling. (Also, no fear! All animals are parasite free and up-to-date on any and all vaccines/medications/etc. :})

First, an introduction. The tiny lizard and giant dog assess each other:

Then, the ascent. The tiny lizard shall stake his dominance at the risk of death:

(Classic "I hate you right now" face.)

Finally, acceptance. The tiny lizard has become the mighty conqueror. The giant dog submits to the conqueror's will:

That's amazing!!! My Yorkie chases live mice and if I drop a f/t one I have to hurry and get it before he does. I definitely couldn't do that. Cool pictures and glad it worked out for you.

Cute pics! I would never trust Bella to do that. Does Kraven acknowledge the dog at all, or is he just another mountain to climb?

Thanks! Dante is a pretty good dog, especially if I'm giving him the death stare. He loves my rats, too and the snakes. He's just a big softie.

And Nanci, he was puffing up and doing the whole "black beard" thing at first, so I guess he recognized Dante as a threat initially. Then Dante put his head down, and Kraven seized the opportunity and began to climb!

So cute! My corgi, Stella, doesn't really care either way for any of my snakes. I think she views them more as inanimate objects than another living thing. :p Tends to ignore them.

Dante is such a handsome doberman!

Oh wow all the pics are great, but I love the last one. He really looks like he is proud of himself.

Thanks for all the wonderful comments! I need to update Kraven's progression thread, as he's about twice the size now! ;P
