Deadliest Catch Captain Phil Harris Dies

Big fan, nice guy, good friend.

Rode with him on part of a cross county cycle run.

He was a top notch, outstanding guy who loved his kids, his job and his friends.

We will be missed.

I love that show and he was such a big part of it. He seems like a good guy. I thought it was fitting that he was on his boat when he had the stroke that eventually took his life. He loved what he did for a living. I'm sure his family will miss his being a part of their lives and the business. Deadliest Catch just won't be the same without him.

I watched the show, and liked it. And the last time I was home, I discovered my mom and stepdad were addicted to it. I hope he knows how fondly he was thought of.
Thanks for the thread, Mike.

I love that show and as was already mentioned Captain Phil was an integral part of that show. He truly was my favorite of the Captains.
My prayers go out to his family, crew members and friends.
RIP Captain Phil.

I watched the show on occasion. I believe it was Larry King, but I saw him on one of those shows, and he really seemed like a funny and interesting guy. He was definitely a big part of the show and the crew. Sorry to hear about this... R.I.P!!!

Deadliest Catch is one of my favorite shows (I actually have it on DVD and watch it a lot) and Phil was definitely my favorite captain. He seemed like a wonderful, passionate man, I would have loved to have met him. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and crew in this difficult time. RIP Captain Phil, you will be greatly missed.

I read about this late last night. It's very sad news. He was definitely my favorite, and I agree that 53 is way too young for anybody to die. My thoughts are with his family and friends. RIP Captain Phil.

Hallie he was a larger than life personality both on the show and in person. On Saturday he was talking a little bit seemed to be making some progress but when I got a message from Jake early Monday morning he was starting to backslide. I take comfort in the fact he died doing what he loved. He worried and stressed over not being able to go back on the boat after the blood clot problems. When they let him go back I've ever heard a happier sound come out of his mouth. People like him don't come around often enough and they leave a big space when they are gone.

That's too bad! Capt. Phil was one of my favorites. I was really glad to see his come back during opilio's last year. I'm going to miss him!

Wayne
