Diffused - mode of inheritance

Now that masque has been isolated from diffused and held responsible for the effects that were often touted as 'markers' for het diffused (the split chequers, head pattern etc) is it now a general consensus that diffused can now be regarded as a simple recessive?

Yes a simple recessive, I bred normal het sk diffused x same last year, was a 1/16 chance for sk diffused. Out of 16 eggs I got one diffused, one sk diffused and one masque.

As far as I can remember, diffuse has always been considered a simple recessive.

Diffused is simple recessive. The level of diffusion expressed is a line-bred or polygenic trait.

I think some people considered it to be co-dominant as het animals still showed some visual marks

Nope definitely single recessive ... Its just people didnt understand the dominant masque and also redfactor...

Now it will be interesting to see what can be done with diffused without redfactor!!! I have a few projects without it woop woop!!!

It is interesting to note that a diffused not dispaying red factor can produce het diffused hatchlings showing redfactor!!!
