Digging and burying

Since last shed 4 weeks ago Mr Ripley has been much more active and burying in aspen quite a bit. Before I used to have to wake him up almost from in his log to get him out (with no problems ) . Now he's up and at the glass and last night he rattled when I first touched him.....no striking at all but just doesn't seem his usual self since that last shed ( which was fine...no stuck bits). His temps are fine and as they've always been. He's 7 years old and has one large mouse every 10 days. Do you think there are any problems? I'm going to get him out now, but once again he's lively but partially buried.

I have some I never see without an excavation and others that never seem to burrow. If all else seems fine, i wouldn't worry.

It is springtime, and mating season. Your boy is doing what boys do, getting all goofy over the possibility of mating! Get him a copy of "Playsnake" and he should be fine. :roflmao: :sidestep:

Thanks both for reassurance, not sure if where I live sells that magazine, but I'll sure look on the top shelf for it!!!! He came out no worries yesterday. Just been in his room now and he's actually got under the UTH , I've never seen that before. So he's pushed the aspen under the UTH so he can go under the mat ??? Is this just boyish behavior? He's stressing this human mum out a bit.....

Where is the mat? Is it IN the tank or under the tank stuck to the bottom?

A UTH is exactly what it stands for, an Under Tank Heater meaning it goes under the tank! The thermostat and digital thermometer probes should be next to each other in the tank stuck to the bottom directly over the middle of the UTH to ensure the thermostat and UTH are working properly.
