Digital thermometer probe wire eyesore

How's that for a post title?

Couldn't think of a better way to put it.

Anyway, I'm using a digital indoor outdoor thermometer with a small probe on the end of a thin wire to measure temp on the warm side. The display unit is on the outside of the tank and the thin wire runs under the lid in the corner (not creating an escape route that I can see).

The wire hanging down is kind of an eyesore. I know not to use tape in the tank but how could I run the wire neatly down the corner of the tank and across the floor to where the probe needs to be?

I've heard of putting the whole thing in the tank but that's useless with mine since the display shows either indoor temp or outdoor and needs to be manually switched between the two.

I thought about going wireless but the one I saw at Radio Shack had a very large sensor that I didn't really like.

Any suggestions?

don't you already have a thermostat wire running into the tank anyway?

Besides, whats the use of seeing the indoor temp when the unit is outside the tank.

There is no thermostat. I'm using a moonlight lamp on a dimmer switch for heat and monitoring the temp with the digital thermometer.

You're right, there is no use of seeing the indoor temp since my thermometer has a single display and stays outside the tank. If it had a dual display I could put the unit in the tank on the cool side and see the temp on both sides on the unit in the tank as well as run the wire under the substrate.

Unfortunately my unit does not lend itself to that type of set up and I'm seeking ideas on what I can do with the wire in my situation.

Buy a formable vine and wrap the wire around it and down under the substrate. Or you could buy some of those fake plants that suction-cup to the side of the terrarium.
