Dirty Supplies

Well, not exactly dirty.. but I need help. The water bowls I got for my new snake were obviously sitting on the shelf for a very long time and so, when I tryed to peel the sticker off, I got the 'tear' and the paper stuck. I eventually got it off, but now there is a clear addhessive residue that will not come off. I have already bleached, soaked overnight, but nothing works. Any ideas? Also, between the lower trim and the glass, there is a lot of dust. Is there any way to clean this out?

Try nail-pollish remover for the stickyness! After that probably try everything to remove the nail pollish remover, it has some chemicals in.

But it should not be sticky anymore!

there's wonderful stuff called "goo gone" you can get at Wal-mart etc. Works great for sticker removal. Definitely clean well after using it though. good luck!

Throw the bowls into the dishwasher and wash as normal. Besides cleaning, the heat sterilizes many of the parasites that can be passed.

They're same material as the ones for my other snake. (Just not corner ones) This is a picture. Are these ones dishwasher safe?

PS.- I forgot to ask. After I take them out of the washer, do I have to bleach? (Picture on next post)

I second the googone. The stuff works like magic with "sticker residue". Even gets gum off of clothes. Cheap too, paid aprox. $4 for my bottle and I've had it for 2 years using it on everything from sticker residue to cleaning computer processors.

Plain old WD-40 gets adhesive off as well.

Since your bowls are "rock" I would think it would be safe to put them in the dishwasher.

It depends on how hot your water gets. If you have doubts, then you probably should go ahead and bleach them. Just be sure to rinse them extremely well.

In the future, I'd suggest sanitizing them before the wash cycle. The dishwasher can then help ensure that all of the clorine residue is removed. ;)

i had the same problem recently, my mum sugested soaking for about 10 mins in boiling water then rubbing talcon powder into it, leave for a few mins then it all washed out. it worked a treat!

If it is that dirty go and get a new one! However, don't get it from the pet shop. They charge a lot of money for simple water dishes. Go to Meijer and get one for $2. Check out my blue water bowl i got for cheap.

Sorry Dave, but I don't think most people know what Miejer's is. Those of us in Michigan and surrounding states may know but most won't even know how to pronounce it let alone know what it is...LOL

For those of you who haven't a clue what Dave is talking about Meijer is a Michigan based store that pretty much is regional to the great lakes. It's pretty much on par with Walmart.
