DIY melamine snake room

Forgot to add that all the empty slots are normally filled. They are the breeders that I placed into brumation last week in the basement.

Whoa that's one impressive room! Once my husband and I get our own place, I'd love to set up a room like that.

What exactly is Melamine? Is it a type of wood or a 'wood substitute'? I don't know a lot about building, unfortunately.
 
Melamine is basically particle board with a laminate finish. It is what all the white bookshelves ect. are made of these days.
