I recently made a fake plant for my corn snake. I used a half ball made of styrofoam to ancor the fake leaves and I am wondering what is safe to use for covering the styrofoam.

That's a nice little viv-filler (I'm pretty sure my snake would destroy it).
I think the problem is the porosity of the foam and it's susceptibility to growing bacteria. The threads I've seen where people use foam as a base for building hides or walls (I've been planning that myself) had them covered in plaster or grout, then sealed. That doesn't seem easy to do for your plant/hide.
What if you put the "plants" in natural clay?
 
I have a nice sized rock so I think I'm going to just hot glue the pieces I put into the styrofoam onto the rock.

Or that, make sure the rock is disinfected.
That's a nice idea, it also makes it more stationary. Dip it in bleach water and it's clean.....'cept for the snake poop.
 
I bleached the rock and left it to dry and then I also cleaned it with Wipe Out 2 and put it in his viv and it didn't affect him so I'm just going to use that one because he already knows it.
 
Sounds like a good idea.
I meant snake poop would get on it after you put it in his viv, but you could just brush off the poop and clean it in bleach water.
 
Coat the foam with Cement and then seal it with cement sealer, or grout sealer, or clear coat for painting. . after it has dried for a while use a small old drill bit and hand drill the holes just bigger than the plant stems and then fill the holes with GE Silicone I Caulk. Don't use the GE Silicone II it has a anti-fungal, anti-bacterial chemical that is really bad for reptiles.
