DIY viv stack progression thread

I personally ordered the vents and finger pulls of a viv building supply store online through ebay and the tracking was bought online through a hardware store and then cut downt to size.

Second viv is done and the new little one is home! Pictures will soon be up! Thanks again John for such a gorgeous boy!

here's photos of the new viv for Baskerville my Charcoal tessera!

The flowers didn't show up right but they're blue instead of purple to try and help show off his colors better : ) Also there's some white to contrast his black stripes and side patterns.

That is really awesome! In about a year, my husband will be making something like this, and I am going to bookmark this thread to show him.

I have UTH"s attached to ceramic tiles that are raised up off the floor by 3/4" high pieces of polyeurothaned wood strips that will have the cords then running out the back to my thermostat on the adjacent shelf I built on the side.

I'm digging your project here, and I think Margaret and I will likely tackle something similar in the near future!

I like the ceramic tile idea. I'm wondering, though, why you're raising them 3/4" off the base?

It doesn't need to be 3/4 it's just the thickness of the wood I had from the scrap of the project. As long as its raised up enough to relieve the pressure off the UTH and the wiring at it's base. If you wanted a much lower tile then you should think about laying down heating tape instead of UTH's to the tiles as this would remove the hard plastic casing at the back of the UTH that houses the wiring mechanisms.

Ahhh... that makes sense. We use heat tape, so we wouldn't need such a large gap. But I really like the ceramic tile idea because it has more thermal mass: it's not going to have wide temperature swings once it gets to the target temperature.
