Does my humid hide need to be dark, like a hide?

I put a deli container in with my corn two days ago. She is all drab looking on her skin, and the eyes may be blue (hard to tell, she stays hidden)

Since Saturday, the room humidity has been between 55-65% and I added a relatively clear (translucent) deli container with wet paper towels and a small hole at the top.

I put her in it initially, and within half an hour, she was out of it. I haven't observed her going back into it (doesn't mean she doesn't do it while I am not watching). I assume she will do what's best for her...but I was just wondering if a darker container would be preferred.

This is her first shed with me, so this is all new.

Sometimes they just don't like them. But, in my experience, if your snake _does_ like humid hides, he will _love_ them, and spend all his time there! They don't care if the hide is clear or not. Coral snakes will use a piece of glass as a hide. I wonder why they don't mind it being clear.

I agree with this i have just made a little home made humid hide as Smokey is struggling to shed her skin and she has not come out of it for any more than 15 mins at a time lol unfortunately its not working so im going to give her a soak with a hand towel tonight and hopefully that will clear all the leftover skin off

Yeah..ive had questions about this too..my snake just pokes his head in there, smelles it then goes back into the hide. I thought i was doing something wrong but i guess it is the snake that prefers what to do, and what it likes.

Will I be OK with 55%-60% humidity in the room? I assume once they begin the shed process, they follow through right? Can they take a week of this humidity level without any respiratory issues developing?

The room is normally around 40-45% humidity...but I decided to crank it up when her skin got all cloudy.
