I started a mouse colony (4 females 1 male) about a month ago (no litters yet but i can wait) that has been doing fine, but today when i went to check the water in the cage (lets here it for 100 degree heat) i didn't see one of the females, so i sat and watched until the male went into one of the hides and chased her out and started biting her until she finally got back in her hide. I pulled her out and within the last day the male or all of the other mice have pulled out all the hair on her back and left so many deep bite marks that she is covered in scabs and favoring one of her legs. i pulled her out and put her in her own cage but I'm not sure what to do now. do I try to put her back in with the others? My snakes aren't big enough to eat her and I wouldn't want to feed them a mouse that looked as bad as her so I don't think I could give her to any of my snake owner friends. any ideas?

I would set her apart and buy another female to accompany her. I had a female that suffered a bite wound on her back, near her tail. I set her apart for a couple of days and then with my male cause I wanted her to get pregnant. Her back healed completely and now I keep her with a male or pregnant females and it workes out well.

3 colonys :grin01: , my roommates will love that. oh well ill give that a try, thanks for the comment.
