Dog question

Reptile Boy
Im getting a dog and wondering what is a good dog to get

Things im looking for:

Short Hair
Small to Medium Size
Gets along with cats(big must)

Thank you Jesse........

I suggest you look around your local shelters, and just see what you can find! Those dogs need homes the most. After a certian period, they become euthanized. :(

right on!

I recommend a mutt.

If you want something that is more likely to get along with cats, I'd stay away from any hounds or hunting dogs.

If you get a puppy its just a matter of introducing the cat and dog - there isn't really a specific breed that likes cats - now, the pound is always a good place to go, but if you want a purebred, mini bull terriers are awesome, as are bichon frise (they don't shed) Shar-pei... you should research the breeds. Find out what fits you!

Oh good lord!

I would type suggestions to you, but I am way too busy chasing my own puppy. So in brief, get an adult or young adult dog!! Puppies are an incredible amount of work.

I know you arent looking for a large dog but a labrador retriver is a excellent dog. Short haired and in my opinion the sweetest breed of all dogs. But like everyone else said shelters have some great finds of needy animals

Agree with shelter dogs. Please don't think because a dog has short hair it won't shed, I have a rat terrier and she sheds all year. Even more in spring, she needs constant brushing to keep the furniture kind of hair free. my .02, susan

I think pugs are my favorite small dog, although you will hear that they don't go well with cats because of their easily injured prominent eyes. Still- they're the best small dog out there, IMO. I've had three pugs and a couple cats, and gotten along just fine.

Both of my daughters family have pugs, one is the only animal, the other one lives with big dogs, cats, mice and a snake. Let me tell you that little dog can hold its' own, she isn't even a year old. Very cute dogs, pugs, susan
