I just bought my setup for my corn snake, but now I'm wondering if I bought the wrong size under tank heater. I bought a 20gal long tank, and the UTH that said 10-20 gal. Should I have gotten the 30-40 gal instead? I set the UTH in the bottom of the tank, and it definitely isn't covering 1/3 or even 1/4 of the tank bottom.
Also, I read somewhere (here, I think) that someone mounted the UTH to their tank using electrical tape instead of peeling of the adhesive backing on the UTH. Will that really work, and not be a fire hazard or something? I'd heard you could also mount it to a ceramic tile, but how would I do that? Mount it to one size of the tile, and press the other side of the tile to the tank bottom? Would that transfer enough heat? Because if I press the UTH with the ceramic tile underneath to the tank bottom, that puts pressure on the plastic wire housing, and the instructions say not to do that.
Sorry for manyx10 questions. Just don't want to screw up, since it would be difficult to remove the UTH if I attached it.
