Eleanor, the RTB

Lynnea

That's "lin-NAY-ah"
Well, I decided as much as I loved Murbella, my gtp, she has always been very bitey and defensive. So, I took her with me this weekend to Repticon in Charlotte--very good show, btw--and thought I would see if I could trade her for a tamer gtp. I love my other one, Serene, who is still young and quite tame. Well, our next-table neighbor fell in love with her. He pestered me all weekend to trade her, but more in a joking way. Imagine my surprise when he came over as I was packing up and offered to trade--an '08 salmon Red Tail Boa--for Murbella. He asked to take her out of her display box, and as he did, I admit I was envious that he handled her so easily; he did so gently and deftly. That's when I held Eleanor (my name for her), and liked her calm, sweet temperment. So, I decided to let her go. Needless to say, he was thrilled! I will miss Murbella's beauty, but not her hissy temperment!

Eleanor may be super Salmon, but no matter, she's just cool, although it's hard to imagine this sweet little thing will turn into an 8' rabbit-munching monster someday!

Thanks! I don't know a thing about rtbs, but now have something new to learn. Matt (Zeewhiz) saw her and thinks she was a fair trade for Murbella, so everyone was happy!

Awww Lynnea she is so cute! She's even trying to pretend to be a GTP in that first pic. Too sweet! I love all my boas almost more than my corns. (Shhhh!) LOL If you handle her on a regular basis, every couple days, she should keep that calm personality. If you need any advice just let me know and I'll help ya out. :) Oh-- and just she doesn't "have" to eat rabbits one day. She can live quit happily on really big rats. Congrats on a beautiful pick up!

LOL! Matt absolutely loves rtbs too, so he was very enthusiastic about Eleanor. Thanks for your message--I sure don't plan to power feed her! Jonathan, who I got her from, said that because she has no black around her tail saddles, that's a desirable trait--? Can I only tell if she is the super form by breeding trials? Thanks for the help!

Nice trade! As I've always mentioned... I envy those of you who are able to have GIANTS at home. Your "giant" looks to be very lovely. Congrats!!!!

OMG... I saw Elanor last night, and immediately fell in LURVE. I like the name to...it fits her well. Such a good trade, in my opinion. Heck, I may have to buy me a male to match her, Lynnea. BTW, thanks again for picking up that KSB for me... she's such a sweetie.

Oh, i just found this pic. Its a crappy photo, but it shows Bertha back when she was about 8ft, and I was 18... I really do miss her.

Wonderful trade! There is just something about her face that screams "sweetness"! I'm not normally partial to boa's - but I'd take her home with me in an instant!

Oh, man, what a sweet girl--no wonder you miss Bertha! Who knows what will happen; may be baby boas in our future! lol BTW, I named her Eleanor because I had just gotten done watching "Gone in 60 Seconds"; Eleanor was the name for the Shelby GT500, his "unicorn" car.

You're welcome! Do you still think your KSB is a snow? I was looking at pics online, looks like she could be. Guess you'll find out eventually!

That's IMMEDIATELY what I thought of when I heard her name was Eleanor.

I still think she is a snow, I made a thread about her on here today. I'll post pics on it when I get home tonight.

She's lovely Lynnea! She's got great color... I'll bet there is a good chance she's a super. And I love the name reference. I've got the name "Eleanor" saved up for the day I get my Boelen's Python :grin01: I'm sorry to hear that Murbella had to go, but at least it wasn't a total loss. Sounds like she went to a pretty good home though!

Can't wait to see updates as she grows up! :D

Absolutely gorgeous!!!

And with a female boa, you can expect 8+. LOL. A friend of mine back in Colorado had one breeding female that was close to 11'.
