Batman Rules
This is the second time with the same viv that Elwood has escaped, i have emptied the viv he's not there and i have literally tore the room apart. Im kinda worried he's got out of my room and he's somewhere else in the house. I'm at the point i have to tell everyone else in the house he's escaped:(

I'm just gonna search for help forums on this, but has anyone had any luck with any particular type of snake trap?

When my little guy escaped from his closed viv (growl), I set out hides and tape along the edges of the room I figured he was in - and sure enough, I found him in the tape within a day. If you go that route, please, please use something gentler like painter's tape, and check the traps frequently so he doesn't get caught and thrash himself into a big tangle with the tape. Vegetable oil will get all the tape off, work slowly and just soak it off if possible.

Alternately, you could set up bottle or box traps with a prey item inside, in which you make a hold big enough for him to get in, but not big enough to get out with a full belly.

Good luck, I hope you find him!

Found Him!!!

Woo! I set traps, Left hides and heat mats out. Covered the floor in talcon powder to follow the trail but in the end it was good old fashioned looking under box's that found him:)

Very good to hear you found him!

Have you figured out how he's escaping from his viv yet? I had to replace mine entirely because I couldn't find a top that didn't have the same weaknesses that the current one did. Hopefully yours is a cheaper fix. :)

no cant work it out, after the first time he got out i stuffed all the edges of the viv doors with foam. i was sure there was no way he could get out. Im thinking he's got a small star trek type transporter in there with him.

That mental image was too cute not to draw, albeit quickly.

What about where the cords for your temp probes, etc come out? Gotta think like the little monsters do.... mine was getting out of a crack about one forth of an inch.

dude that picture was ace, it made his whole escape worth it lol, I think so Nanci have tried all other options. unless i buy a new viv for him and get an older bigger corn for the old viv :)

I bought a new lid for my ten gallon after Gunn escaped. I found him fairly quickly, but I never found Tessa. With the first one, I blamed the daughter's friends on not tightening the lid down, but with Gunn, I knew the lid was on "tight." He hasn't escaped again, so I tossed that lid. Losing one was hard, I didn't want to lose another one.
