I got a $25 and a $5 fish for one last couple and their son before I left for the day and as soon as I was done with them I went to clock out. I was talking to my manager when I see the couple and their kid leave with no bags or fish. I told my manager I think they just stole our fish. I asked the cashier if they paid she said no so I ran after them. They were halfway across the lot when I caught them. I said you didn't pay for that and he said oh sorry I'll give them back. I then started to call the cops so the guy stated walking away. I followed him into another store and then he went down a street were he jumped a fence and got away. He ran away from me for awhile so at least I annoyed him for awhile and maybe scared him enough not to steal again but I doubt it. He won't be stealing from my store again though lol.

That's what I said to my coworkers. I've seen a lot of products stolen but never fish or any other animal.

I was really pissed at these people because I was talking to them, helping them with their questions and got them the fish then they walked down an aisle and out the door right in front of me. Then the guy got mad at me for calling the cops like I was the one doing something wrong lol.
 
wow! We used to get a lot of expensive corals stolen at one place I worked, but not many fish.
 
Nothing surprises me any more, especially dumb criminals. That is really stupid to walk out right in front of you - oh and what a wonderful value to teach your kid. Let's make a family outing to the pet store and steal something!

I know I felt so bad for the little kid. A few weeks ago I had a lady do a drug deal at the store with her young son.
