Hi everyone, placing a online order for some accessories for my hatchling cornsnake that I will be getting next week.

Was wondering what you guy's think of these?

Am I ok to just buy the extra large x2 and be done? or will the snake develop a complex and need to see a shrink?

For a hatchling would you recommend a diffrent size? Also what size would you recommend for an adult (this way I can purchase now and save on shipping)! :)

Those caves are excellent. I use them for all my snakes and all three spend the majority of their time in these caves. Go ahead and get a couple.

However, I don't recommend extra large for a hatchling. The extra large are pretty high and a hatchling would be lost in there. I don't think the snake would use it - they like nice snug hides :)

I have a large one for my adult female Scarlet....she LOVES it and hardly ever leaves it. =)
 
So I am ok purchasing the large one for a hatchling? and it may suffice until it's an adult???


BTW How much is a snake shrink per hour?

Just put aspen in it to take up the extra room. Hatchlings grow out of their tiny hides so fast!

I have those in all sorts of sizes, for everything from my snakes to lizards. They all love them. I keep so much stuff having smalls around is no big deal, but I agree with Nanci, if you're NEVER going to have a hatchling ever again (ha, ha yeah right) then buy the larger size and stuff it full of aspen or crumbled paper towels.
 
So should I buy the extra large and fill it up with aspen or is that too big for an adult?

I don't see much point filling a hide with aspen; if the snake used it, I think he'd just want to burrow in the thick aspen regardless of whether the cave's there or not as babies seem to love doing... just my opinion... :shrugs: I'd buy a smaller size for now and you can always save it for your next snake or just sell it on when your corn outgrows it. I have a couple of the extra large hides and I just don't see a hatchling using them.
