Has anyone seen this new hides for sale in the US? I've been looking for them, but I can't find them anywhere. I saw them for sale in Europe, but shipping was 25 POUNDS! Wow

Thanks!

Exoterra Snake Caves
I know PetCo is a retail distributor for Exoterra. If they don't have it in stock I know for a fact they can and will order you some. I've looked at those and i thought they were pretty cool myself.

I haven't found the ExoTerra one anywhere but ZooMed has something similar I saw at PetSmart.

I use the "cave hides" in my vivs- you can also order in North America from Drs Foster and Smith- they usually offer a quantity discount or free shipping over a certain price point. They also carry the exo water/feed bowls, the vines, and the silk plants from exo, as well as a wide range of other valid herp supplies.

All of it is very nice for viv decor/dressing- and I usually find one or more of my corns hanging out in a vine or on a silk plant- the snakes love the variety of their hides!

I mention these guys specifically for a few reasons:

1/ comparable prices to petco/petsmart without having to deal with getting mauled by saint bernard in for obedience training[thank god I still have my leg!]

2/ slick, well-coded and fast-loading website- fun to browse.

3/ no-fault return policy- they even cover shipping of exchange items- fast turnaround. Hassle-free returns, and no restocking fee. If u have to buy without seeing this is GREAT,

and finally

4/ their animal care guides, while not exactly 1oo% spot-on for every animal, are a far cry better than almost 95% of the "chain store" advice/info I have ever received. I just appreciate the lack of bamboozling going on at this 'site; to me it seems a bit more in line with what I want as a pet-owning breeder.

just another option... my $o.1o

www.reptilesupply.com has the zoo-med ones. i have these for my snakes and they love them. i put moss in them and wet it down and it creates a humid hide for them.
drs. foster and smith are great but their shipping can be expensive, if you just order a couple things, it's not worth it...and they have just started to carry reptile supplies within the last year or so. so their prices can be more expensive for some things. i've used them for years for stuff for my dogs. but not much for my reptiles, unless they have a sale.

Thanks for your help. I didn't see the snake caves I was looking for but that's a good site

I have one of the Exo terra ones for my Ball python.. he doesnt use it! lol I find that the Zoomed ones seem smaller than the Exo ones. they just recently came out here and I thought I would try it... but seeing as how the ball doesnt use it, I doubt I will buy more for my corns. on a side note it seems like only the largest size has an opening that is big enough for an adult corn to get through, which of course is the most expensive one! lol

i have a large one for all my snakes (except my boa since he wont fit :p) they ALL love it.. and i use it as a hide OVER the heat matts... the temp gets perfect inside.. and they love it.. :)

my snakes love their snake caves. i have mine over the warm side as well. i almost always find them in there. which makes it easy for me. i dont have to dig around looking for them.

I use the exo terra snake caves in all of my corns vivs except the biggest adults. I have been VERY impressed with how easy it is to get in, clean and find the snake. I had been having a problem with sheds and humidity level, but since the caves I've had 100% perfect sheds all the way 'round!

If you are trying to use one for a ball python I'm not surprised it's not using it. The biggest one is only appropriate for a very young ball python and even that would only work for a ridiculously short time. I know there is a picture of a ball python on the smallest cave but come on, on fish tank kits that are only a gallon size there is usually like 10 fish in that picture! lol Can't believe everything you see! :)

I LOVE exo terra caves! Go for it!

Rebecca

I personally don't have one, although i would love it. My Boas using a container tipped on its side and loves it. Perfect shed of course. but i can't ever take it out unless he's in it.
