FAO... Lori ... JK's house.

The Devils Advocate
I was telling Lori about this house a while back... Here's the pics I promised and a quick explanation for those that didn't see the thread I wrote it in....
A friends wife works for an estate agent.... JK Rowling was looking to buy land in Wentwood forest near me......
Shortly after the land was sold, this house was built...
JK Rowling lived around this area and went to school here.....
So everyone calls this JK Rowlings house.... I've never seen her ...
Though I have been tempted to knock the door and see if she's in.... LOL
Apart from the fact this house must of cost millions, the land is in a conservation area, so the price has to be astronomical...

And with much danger to ourselves ....
Here's a shot of the view from the front of the house....
Looking over the lake in the foreground, to the Bristol channel in the background....
That view is worth a million in my opinion..

Holy cow...what a stunning...geez...mansion? Castle? The house, the land, the view...absolutely breathtaking!! Thanks so much for getting such amazing shots, Mike! So really, no one knows if it's actually HER house?

She lived in Chepstow a big part of her life, and people I work with remember her in school.....
And she was buying land....
Thats about as tenuous as it gets.....
I will say, that if I had half a billion....
And I wanted to come *home*....
That would be the one I wanted........

Yeah, I could really see me living in a little shanty like that someday! ;)

By the way, what does FAO stand for, Mike?

Oh, isn't it pretty! I love Britain; if I didn't have so many roots here I'd live there in a heartbeat. I'd LOVE a house and land like that.

If I was rich that's exactly how my house would be..Perfectly blended with nature, and not so big where it becomes empty. It looks very homely, and very expensive lol..I just hope she spent so much money on it that she needs to write more books to make ends meat..That would be great :)!

Right around 2000 I think it was in June, Architectural Digest did a spread on my house. It was just after that the the JK Rowlings house was built. Town and Country magazine did an article talking about the obvious similarities of our two homes. The really blasted them for having no originality of their own. Of course my home doesn't have the British country side as a back drop.

By the way, if you ever meet her you should tell her your a Parseltongue..That should get you in's on the estate for sure!.
