my brother, his girlfriend, and i went to the hoenix zoo today. while the zoo is nice, i really find the reptile house very dissapointing. it made me wonder what are some of your fvorite reptile zoo's around the country?

in south dakota i visited this place http://www.reptilegardens.com/
it was amazing to see their collection. this so far, has to be my favorite.

The San Diego Zoo has some decent setups in a few different places. The Green Tree Python exhibit was what got my wife and I into snakes. But their Komodo Dragon is AWESOME! We have a year pass and we love to just go watch that guy for hours.

Well, I haven't really been to many zoos, but I work at the Knoxville Zoo in Knoxville, TN and we have over 800 snakes and other reptiles, however most are not on exhibit. The building is 40 yrs old and not that large, but it's always nice to go up there "behind the scenes" and look at all the animals.

The Phoenix Zoo reptile house used to be much better. I like the new huge displays, but they cut back the number of species by at least half. The Columbus Zoo has a decent setup. Reptiland, in central PA, is OK if you're in the area, but I wouldn't go out of my way to visit.

It's been almost 2 years since I was there. I think they were just redoing the reptile house at the time. Did you take any pics?

no i forgot the camera! they have a new komodo exhibit. it looks very nice. the reptile house is fairly small and only has snakes found in az. it was cool seeing the different rattlesnakes, but half of the terrium windows were dirty and for wheelchair users you could only see the bottom row.

Sadly I have more variety of species at my house than both MN zoos in the twin cities. Granted they have some of the Rare ones, but I have wider variety.
And If I get bored, I could go to the Snakeguru's place and check out his hots.
