Feeding for new baby

I just purchased a femal Amel, 50% het lavender corn snake this morning. The breeder told me that I should wait at least 3 days before feeding her, in order for her to become accustomed to her new surrounding. Only thing is, though, that according to her feeding schedule, she is due to be fed tomorrow. What should I do?

If a new arrival is due for a feeding, I usually offer it to them, even if they've only been with me for 24 hours. I feel that eating makes them feel secure in their new surroundings faster than not feeding. Snake to self: Well, it must not be too bad here, there's grub.

Other than one purchased as a known non-feeder, I've never had a new snake turn down food.

I brought a corn home thursday night (feeding night) and while didn't think she'd take it after at the car ride and cold temps outside, left her for about 30min then offered.. and she ate! happy as a clam! feeding day is thursday for two of my snakes from the same clutch!

Sorry for the late post...

But i just recently bought my first snake on the 19 of Nov as well and it will not eat as well. I will be giving mine until this up coming friday to eat. The feeding date was the same day that i bought it and it would not eat. i offered on sunday and also on tuesday but it would not eat. i think by some post on this forum that it is just not comfortable / feeling safe enough to eat yet. Just give it a couple days to relax and all and it should eat. My snake is becoming more active as each day passes coming out of the hide much more or more.

I recently bought a 2 month old baby and these were the instructions from the breeder: (paraphrased)

Do not handle the snake except to inspect for health. Place snake in deli cup permanent home- allow it to emerge from the cup, in dim light, when it is ready.

Do not handle the snake for seven days. Handling stresses the snake.

After one week, feed the snake. Establishing feeding is the most important thing. You will have years to play with the snake.

After a successful feeding, and waiting 48-72 hours, you may then handle the snake.
