feeding in shed?

I have a corn soon to shed and she's due for a meal. Could there be any problems if I fed her right now during her shed or should I just wait? Thx in advance!

Adam

Just give it a try. Feed on your normal schedule and see if she's interested. If she's the kind that skips meals while in shed she'll let you know. Most of my corns will eat during a shed cycle. Some require smaller meals then usual. You just have to get to know her:D

Fed mine in shed yesterday; shed last night in no time at all. Perhaps stretching to swallow loosens the skin?

Fed mine and she shed 4 days later. She also fed a couple of days after it. Depends on the snake I guess.

Thank you for all the replys. I fed her last night and shed ate two pinkies just as easy. Shed hasn't shed yet but she should soon because her eyes have cleared up now.

If you establish a collection; it's good to know who eats everytime and who doesn't. I still offer all mine food, but have a "garbage disposal" big snake or two I give anything uneaten to the next morning. I hate throwing out mice, but will if it's a new acquisition or sickly snake that refused food. Just use your judgement and don't make your "garbage disposal" a woma or piebald bp or something irreplaceable. Bulls and black milks have been my choices! I keep index cards of all mine, and make a mark when the snake is blue, besides feed/shed records. This helps a lot, and is good for reference come breeding season, etc.

I have been keeping complete records of mine since I got her as well. I put down the date purchased, where, and how large she was. I also record the date and time I feed, what I fed, how much, and how well she responded. I've even been putting down whether she constricts or not, just out of curiosity. I also recorded when she shed. I think a few years down the line, when we have more than one corn :) it will be interesting to see the differences between the snakes.

lol u no jus before shedding ur snake goes in to the normal colour phase, well mine went into this so i fed her, she ate fine, then 2 hours later der was a nice fresh skin waiting for me :D so she had eaten like an hour before shedding

Thx again for all the replys. I do want to start a nice collection but I'm not sure if I can because of cost (im only almost 14) and my parents. At first they didn't even want to think of a snake in the house, but I asked and asked and they got me a ball python for my 10th birthday which I still have and this late summer I got my first corn, a creamsicle still a baby too. But I don't think they will let me get a whole bunch :crying: Anyway, thx for all replys, if I do get a collection I will DEFINATELY keep tabs on them and record everything.

I congratulate you on your powers of persuasion! My first snake was a little baby water snake. Then it was on to garters and blacks, a hognose, whatever I could catch.
Late in my teens I got a beautiful Boa Constrictor named Ely who I had to sell in order to get married :awcrap: (It worked out!)

Now I have my own kids and we have a corn.

:roflmao:

Adam,
As soon as you have an independant source of income, you are going to have SO many snakes! Just wait until the first time you breed. This hobby does funny things... It's more like a fever!

It's a good sickness

You just have all the symptoms ! If I had access to the Internet at your age, I can only imagine how much worse I'd have gotten it! It was bad enough with no one to converse with or answer questions. Some of the advice in books was BAD in the 70's too.
