HEY IM NEW TO THIS SITe AND HAVING A CORN SNAKE..HIS NAME IS McLOVIN i had a question would it be okay to feed Mclovin in his terrarium if he has zilla green terrarium carpet. if anyone can help me with this that would be great thank you
I don't see why you couldn't as far as your snakes safety, However this may start to condition your snake to associate your hand (or anything else for that mater) entering his viv as a food source which may cause him to bite you a lot more often. Thats why a lot of people recommend feeding in a separate container even if its just a cardboard box or rubber maid tub.
As long as there is nothing that he could eat along with the mice it's fine but as already said your hand coming into the tank will mean food and you risk getting bit. Also depening on the size of your snake and the size of the tank it might take your snake awhile to find the food unless you drop it right infront of him. I feel thats it's better to move your snake to a smaller place so that they don't think you opening the top will bring food and you won't risk the snake missing the mice. However, it's up to you.
Alright Im just goin to remove Mclovin from the tank then i dont want to take the chance onn him starting to bite when i put my hand in the tank. thanks alot for the info. and by the way hes only 12 inches hes still a baby.i bought him yesterday thanks again.
I kept and fed my first corn on carpet for a while. Then I got aspen for her, and she was _so_ happy, burrowing all the time- she just loved it. And it was _way_ easier to clean than the carpet. So then I had to feed her in a container. She didn't care.
You know what's nice about feeding in a container, even if you don't have to- you have a chance to clean the viv, change the water, etc. while the snake isn't home.
yea i get whats your saying nanci i have both the carpet and the aspen bedding for McLOVin.soo far hes been hangin out in the planting that runs along his cage.so when i choose to switch the bedding and its time to clean the carpet im goin to switch to the aspen. i kno they love to burrow so ima going to do so and let him enjoy his home more thanks. for the tips. theres a pic of him in the introduction soo you can see what my lil Mclovin looks like!!
