After a recent trip to the local reptile show (aka heaven) I ended up purchasing a 100 count variety pack of peach fuzzies. They vary from 2-5.5 grams so I weighed each and seperated them into bags of 2-3 and 4-5.5 grams. Following the Munson Plan, I feed my snakes (whom are 17 grams give or take) two of the smaller fuzzies instead of large pinkies.

My question is: Even though RodentPro assured me that it wouldn't make a difference, would feeding small peach fuzzies instead of large pinks have any effect on my snakes? I've read a lot about overweight corns and overfeeding and I'm concerned. I'm such a cautious mother. I only the best for my babies.
 
It won't make much of a difference. Each snake is an individual just like us, so the plan has to be adjusted accordingly. As long as your snake can eat it and digest it well, there's no issue with that. Monitor weight to make sure your snake isn't gaining too much, and if it is, cut back some and instruct your snake to join a gym.
 
Since the Munson Plan has large pinkies listed at 3g, I don't see why there'd be a problem to feed two smaller (2-3g) peach fuzzies.:shrugs: If you're worried, then maybe try feeding a peach fuzzy and half for a few meals and see how they do, then bump up to 2 peachies. :}
 
I was giving them two 2/3 gram fuzzies each every 7 days but switched to 6 because I thought I wasn't feeding them enough (they weren't gaining in weight/size very well).

I weighed them today while cleaning their cages and they are 4 months old at 21 and 23 grams. They might still be passing their last feed because I only found one potty spot each when they usually do "it" twice each meal.
 
Not in a rush, just don't want them to become underfed or overfed. Definitely not intending to breed anytime soon, just wanting them to be healthy and the right size for their age.
 
When they're that young, I try to feed them every 5 days. But do remember that all of them are different. Some are bigger and littler by default, just like people. My blizzard is a normal sized guy, and my fire is still pretty tiny for her age. Just keep feeding them according to the plan (with adjustments as needed) and they're sure to be healthy and happy.

Also, posting pictures might help us estimate if they're about the right size.
 
21-23 grams seems perfect to me. My snake was 21 grams when she was 4 month old, but I have only one snake to compare the weight.

I will definitely take pictures once I have a decent working camera. The best thing I have right now is a webcam on my laptop. :headbang:

I highly doubt it. Snakes are meant to eat rodents. People try to feed them other things, such as crickets, and it's just not right. It's part of the care requirements of having a snake.

There used to be a "snake sausage" on the market, which contained all the nutrients and elements (fur, bones etc) required for snakes. But it's essentially just the equivalent of ground-up mice in a nice clean package that makes it look like you're not feeding them mice. Kathy Love comments on them in the first version of her book (not sure if it's in the second version).

It's probably easier and cheaper just to feed mice.
 
Thanks, all its not the expense of the mice, nor the mess?? my wife asked me to see if there was another way...when I am out of town she does not like to feed Herman, my 3 month old corn. I have been feeding pinkys but graduated him to live fuzzies last weeks feeding..he did great! so I guess Ill go frozen now..and fuzzie too.

Here's pictures

Tried getting pictures with my webcam to make sure they aren't getting fat. They also pooped today so I feel better now that they aren't buldgey anymore. Lol. Sorry about the picture quality. :headbang:

They look right for being 4 months old? Charlie is not quite as long as Aly, but a little "thicker". (They are siblings)
