Feeding while Blue

Hey Alll !

Should i be trying to feed my snake that is now going blue ?(well has been for the last week)

I'm not 100% on this. I know some people do feed while in blue and they have no problems, while others have fed and ending up with a regurging snake. And then again, many snakes won't eat while in blue.

I think the safest route is to just wait until they've finished shedding. Your snake will be just fine if it misses a scheduled meal, assuming it's healthy. :}

My snakes have let me know over time who will eat and while most do, I do have a couple hold outs.

Since all my snakes hide out during this period I would guess they don't actively hunt in the wild either so if you're apprehensive about it, going the "safest route" above will work just fine.

Some do, some don't. The best explanation I've heard for those that don't is that they already feel vulnerable enough with their vision clouded and their skin coming loose, they don't want the extra weight a full belly would bring. You just have to try to feed and see.

I used to do this for all my snakes, until i noticed that they tended to have bad sheds when i fed them while they were still in blue. It didn't happen every time, but it was common enough i decided it wasn't worth it. A few extra days without a meal is no big deal.

One week I didn't realize Scout was in blue, until I'd already offered the pinkie... he gulped it down before I could even react, so I guess he doesn't mind! :D For the record, he didn't regurgitate and had a perfect shed a few days later. Here he is, eating the meal while fully blue:

As for my Ball Pythons, some will and some won't eat during sheds... guess it's the same for corns, so you'll just have to see what happens.

Most of mine eat successfully when blue and I've only had the occasional refusal. Each Corn is different - try offering food and see what happens. If he refuses or has a bad shed on a couple of occasions, then don't bother offering in future.

I feed mine in blue, if they will take it. I like everyone opinon on this subject. Ever snake is different. See what works best for your snake on this one....

I don't feed them while in blue. I have before and have had snakes regurge. Just not worth it to me. I would rather skip a week.
