Should i feed my corn i a different tank or container??? or should i feed her in her tank??? which is better?? And how do i fit a heat mat under the tank???? and is it ok 2 have no light on in the corns tank at night??? just need that help???? :awcrap: thanx

It is best that you feed your corn in a seperate container, and you must if you have mulch as a substrate. Heatmats have a sticky side that you just stick to the bottom of the tank. You do not need any light at night.

Oh-oh - I've never fed Charlie in another container, if they eat well is there any real disadvantage to feeding them in their 'normal habitat' ...?

If you have mulch, it can be ingested during feeding and possibly cause deadly problems. If you use something like paper towels as a substrate there is nothing wrong with feeding in the terrarium. :)

Feeding in the primary cage allows the snake to develop a feeding response when ever the cage lid or door is opened. As I do not like this type of response when I am doing routine maint. I feed mine in a seperate container, once the feeding session is over I move them back into their primary cage.

hope this helps

Thank you both. I've never used mulch as substrate (or anything he could swallow) so no worries there. Think I'll leave him as he is, I'm pretty sure he's not 'conditioned' into thinking it's food time every time the door opens as I handle him often - and he's too big to mess with/move around when he's grumpy :D

Thanks again.

Heard and observed, you can actually run into more feeding response problems when using a seperate container.

I feed in the tank, and because that is not the only time my hands are in there, the snake does not assume I'm food.
