Few more questions

I am wondering about a thermostat. I want a nice digital one with possibly two sensors and a humidity reader. Is it possible to get all this in one device? Does anyone have any suggestions as to what brand and where to get one? Am i going to just have to get two thermostats and put one at each end? it would be nice to have one device with 3 sensors, two on each end measuring temps and one in middle measuring humidty, or should i even worry about humidity? As to what heating pads i should use does anyone have any preference to a particular brand? Dont want to get one that will be running way hot or cold, but if im using a thermostat i prolly shouldnt be worring about that i guess. One last thing, has anyone ever ordered from http://www.lilreptile.com? The prices and shipping seem very good but i dont want to buy from there if it isnt a reliable source. Thanks and sorry about all the questions.

You can buy devices that control temp and humidity but you don't need to worry about humidity with corns (unless you live somewhere super humid!). You can buy thermostats online, I use Microclimate. I'm not sure if you are in US or not but Microclimate is a UK based company. They do deliver though but it would probably be cheaper for you to find a more local supplier.

Heat mats: Cobra, habistat, repti therm...most big brands are recommendable.

When using your thermostat you can place the sensor in various ways to control temp. I was advised to place in the middle of the tank and set it at 20*c so that you get a gradient (hotter above heat mat, cooler at other end) or if you use a strip mat, to control the heat mat itself. This is a bit more tricky as you have to fiddle about with temps until you get preferred temp in the viv and I doubt you'll be using a strip mat anyways...). Find a supplier and give them a call. They will be able to best advise you on the proper use of their specific thermostat!

Good luck! :D

I would highly recommend the Helix unit. I second CornCrazy's humidity response. If you feel that it is a must have, the $5 hydrometers that you can buy at any pet store work just fine. I use them in all of my BRB enclosures.

Thermostat or did you mean Thermometer

Hello Talon, Did you want to control the temp or monitor it? I have several thermometers-humidity gauges. My favorite one is by Radio Shack. It is wireless and the homebase(receiver) can monitor several different transmiters. it does both temp and humidity. it has alarms, where you can set highs and lows. this works great for me because my snakes are in different locations. inside the house and out. I will post the model number tommorrow. I hope this helps. REG Well today is tommorrow. The model # is 63-1030
