Finally! a coupling!!!

tradernick

Just another Florida guy
This is my amel het caramel / caramel het amel. After being stymied with my first couple, these guys got friendly after about 5 minutes. They were positioned with the connection away from me but there was no doubt what was happening and I saw the yellowish stain afterwards that everyone says to watch for. So I am quite excited!
Now my questions...

How long should I leave him in? Should I move him in and out of her viv every few days? At what point can I be certain she's done with him?

Nick

p.s. regarding the other couple, they just aren't clicking. That's ok with me, I'll rotate him in and out every few days, I guess.

Not like I'm the expert, but I put mine together every three days. People say that once is enough- three times is plenty. The more often they do it, the more chance there is of the male getting injured. I have two pairs that did it five times each, then I quit. You might consider breeding them in an empty bin so the substrate doesn't get stuck on his hemipene. Trust me- if they are in the mood, they don't care where you put them...

Nanci do you mean every three days for a few hours, or three days in and three days out?
And yes compared to me and my paltry herp abilities you ARE the expert.
Thanks for all,
Nick
