First shed and I got bitten

Hethiss

New member
Hethiss had his first ever shed in the month that i have had him. On xmas day i saw him looking a little dull then boxing day his eyes had crusted over. Then a little while ago looked in his terrarium and there is a full shed at the back of the tank.

Took him out and checked him over. He looks so much brighter now and he attacked my thumb and bit it.

Some people advise not to feed while a snake is getting ready to shed (though many people do it without any issues including myself) but I've never heard of anyone saying that you should wait after the snake sheds. Some snakes will even refuse food while in shed which means they are even hungrier than normal when they are done.

Should food be offered right away after a shed?

I usually wait till next day so I can clean out the cage (some of my snakes will poo after a shed). Then I feed them. They are very hungry after a shed:eatpointe

I don't offer food right away unless it was within 2 days of their usual feeding day. I feed on Thursdays, so if they shed Saturday morning I'll feed them. If they shed Sunday morning, they wait until Thursday.
