I am Sooooo excited, Travis looked a bit drab in colour today, and has a v-e-r-y slight milky shine to him. Before I put him back I looked at him under the light in my room and his eye looks ever-so-slightly milky too :D:D

I don't know why I'm so excited but it will be his first shed with me :D
I will definately try and take pics of him in blue and then some after he's freshly shed :)

LOL! :D:D
BTW, May sound like a stupid question. But can you keep sheds for like, forever. Or do they eventually 'go off' or anything. You always used to feel a snakes skin at a Zoo or something but they may be fresh ones.
As silly as it sounds, I would be interesting to keep skins to see how he grows, but can they 'go off'? I don't really know what a lot of people on here do with them! Just throw them away? lol

Ok, this is going to sound really weird, but I've got 2 sheds of my amel thumbtacked to the wall behind his viv. They are from his 2 previous sheds. If you put the sheds in a large picture frame, you could frame them. I don't see why you couldn't keep them, except after awhile you would have way too many sheds and you wouldn't know what to do with them all. I'm so gald he's going to shed for you. Make sure you take some after-shed pictures of him for us.

Yay! for Travis! Btw, I think it is just so cute that you named him Travis.

Oo framing would be great :D AW! I could frame his first ever shed with me :p Along with a photo of him as a hatchling printed on photo paper, mounted on black board (His orange colours on the pic and the shed would stand out) and then framed :p

Wow I planned all that in 30 seconds.
He's partly named after Travis Barker who's like my hero and I just love the name Travis in general. Plus I did have another name planned, but like a baby, he didn't 'look' like that name. He looks like a Travis :p

i think when i aquire enough sheds (50-100) i'm going to insert them into the vinyl inserts for records for the record label i run. so it'll be like 50 limited 7"s with special edition snake shed. i've seen people put weird stuff into inserts, ranging from leaves to sea shells.

Looking forward to your pics Marty, your het diffuse has some real nice color to him :*)

I know, he's lovely :D, He was definately looking faded today when feeding, I compared with last weeks feeding pictures and there's a big difference,
Hopefully I'll get some pics of him just after he comes out of being in blue, but I'll definately get some straight after shedding! So excited :D

I decided to quickly post two pics from different feeding times, to show the slight fade in colour in the last week. The first is from last week, the second was this afternoon.

It's only embarassing when you pick up the shed, put it on your head and act like you're a snake!

Now just WHO in the h-e-double-hockeysticks has been opening up my webcam. . . sum1 hackin' my superdooper yahoocam? AIM on tha fritz? I coulda SWORN i pointed it at the desk!?!?!

[ I would also personally like to know of you caught the Cornsnake hour with my 15-shed headdress and african anteater ritual dance did you happen to get to see me do my no-hands African Elephant impression where I pick up the bowling ball? ...it may be a bit off-topic, but it's stellar and stunning nonetheless :grin01: ]

LOL..I can relate.

We knew my daughter's amel was going to shed any day, and she couldn't stand it any longer, today she gave Prescilla a swim..then let her slither through the towel to dry her off.

Within 2 hours and to our surprise, Prescilla was 1/2 shed. She went all over the place and it came off in once piece. My daughter put it in a zip loc bag, marked it #1, the date and the time. It is now taped to her wall next to the viv.

It was very neat to see her work off her old skin.

This post is funny........

I have had Houdini since 2003 and have kept every shed I have 2 ziploc bags full. I had to change ziplocs because it wouldn't snap shut I had so many. :grin01: I got Houdini when he was a yearling so he has grown alot. I have all of candy canes shed to. I've had her since she was a hatchling she's over a year now. Her bag is getting full. I have never had a shed from my anery. and my new 2 hatchlings started their bags a week ago. Maybe this is weird. :shrugs:

Update

I've just got back from picking up some nosh for Travis and just checked on him with my 4 year old neice (5 in february ) and we lifted up his hide slightly to check out his lump from his feeding yesterday and he's in blue :D:D:D he looked up at me with very clouded eyes :)
I'll maybe try and take some pics tomorrow if he's not too grouchy about it all lol
:grin01:

Yes, I remember Seethers 1st shed! Its all so exciting. He just shed last sunday, I was so excited.. but, when I woke up sunday morning I only found half of his shed... I am asuming he ate the back end of his shed because it was completly gone... not on him, not in the substrate, gone. MIA I dunno. guess he got hungry after all that work..? And I'm sure its not on him, because I had to take some dead skin off the end of his tail too. . not one of his best sheds...

Hope you get a whole piece shed. !! :) !!

lol Me too :D I checked on him earlier and he is all snuggled up looking blue like he should be :)
Last night was a bit weird, but cute, usually when Trav is out he's very active and exploring trying to plan his way out, either that or just hiding under his cork bark, but last night he came out and went over to the corner and snuggled up there, watching the vague cloudy world around him. Not that its bad but it was different for his usual behaviour, I've found since i got him that he almost has a 'routine' that makes up a lot of his character :)

Anyway, not long to go :D
