Hi, im new to forums and corn snakes.
I recently purchased a alementary corn from pruesses in perry MI. She was being feed once every two weeks, i heard for maximum size feed as much as possible. will once a week be alright? she is beeing feed frozen pinkies only.

I also went to a reptile expo over the weekend and ought an albino motley corn for breeding when they are old enough. right now they are being housed together, what should i do to prevent cannabalism?

my roomate is good with most reptiles he has 2 bearded dragons, 3 african fat tails, and 5 chameleons. and bought his first snake which is a sand boa. i would like as much info as possible would be much appreciated.

Welcome! I'm not sure what an alementary corn is - could you mean amelanistic? Here are a few pictures. http://iansvivarium.com/morphs/species/elaphe_guttata/amelanistic/

In terms of feeding, you'll want to feed an appropriate size and timing based on how big your snakes are. Many use the Munson feeding plan found here http://www.reptile-community.com/smf/index.php?topic=315.0;wap2. I'm guessing she is quite small if she is eating pinkies, but this chart should help you determine size and schedule. It is based on weight, so if you don't have a scale, perhaps you could post a pic next to a dollar bill (so we can use that as a measure of size).

The only way to be sure to prevent cannibalism is to separate them, either by a divider or in 2 separate vivs. There is a Sticky at the beginning of the section on Husbandry and Basic Care that shows graphic detail on why this is so important.

There is a great deal of very valuable information on this forum. I hope you enjoy your time here and take advantage of all the helpful information posted here. I've attached a link to get you started.

I agree, I think we would all need a picture in order to accurately help you out. One pinky every two weeks sounds a bit extreme. I feed my boy every five days and he just turned a little over a month old.

Welcome!!
I would feed once a week, that's how often I feed mine from the time they are babies until they reach maturity when I trim it down to every other week or so.

And, have to agree with the others, you definitely want to separate them. Cannibalism is not your only worry. The stress from being forced to live in such close quarters can, and will, cause one of your snakes to deteriorate in health. This may be shown in many ways, such as regurges, feeding refusal, reduction in size (even if he keeps eating normally), or others, and eventually death by stress. It significantly reduces their lifespans when cohabbed. Also, assuming they truly are a pair, the male will breed the female as soon as he is mature. It doesn't matter if she is ready or not, he'll chase her and harass her until she finally gives up. This can lead to eggbinding and, again, death.
