Florida Here We Come...

Don't forget about checking flights into Tampa! I'm planning on going again this year. Just have to determine when the kids go back to school. It used to be the week after the show, but the school changed things last year...started on the 9th so we had to find a babysitter for the week-end. We made the mistake of bringing the kids one year...not again until they are much older! And a cornsnakes.com dinner on Sat night sounds great! We should probably start deciding on WHERE we'll be eating. If enough people can definately make it, maybe we should start making reservations now.

Hi all!

I will be posting a new thread later this evening and starting to take a poll on who is interested in getting together for dinner and also any ides from anyone on where to go, once I get a good count from everyone I will call and see who requires reservations etc. This way we all can be involved and have somewhat of a say so. I figured I would start a new thread since this one has been up for a couple of days now and since I started it I figured I would volunteer to set up a Sat. night dinner! So look for that thread everyone! Take care and we can't wait to meet all of you!!!!

Yup, you guys were working hard, talking to lots of people! Are you still going to be behind the table part of the time this year too? In some ways, you get to meet more "corny" people that way, because they come right to us instead of trying to find them amongst the crowds! And GREAT photo ops too, ha ha!!

Since we won't have to deal with those Reptilemania flyers like last year, it shouldn't be quite so hectic. I will try to get a couple of other friends to help out part of the time so we might be able to get out a little more. Of course, the Expo itself is hectic even if you don't have a table, lol!

Yep, we'll be there to help as always. :D I just didn't take the opportunities I could have to get out and peruse around. I will agree with you, you meet more corny people staying at the table.

As for the corn snake dinner, I'm in. The one at Tinley Park last year was a blast. I'm still laughing. OOP! :eek1: Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. :D

(Now we just have to get Jazz to come match wits with a 3-year-old again, and it'll be alright.)

That IS a good question... is it better to fly to Orlando or to Miami for the reptile show? Or to go to Daytona Beach's airport directly? (I get the impression it's an itty bitty one.)

It's a really itty bitty airport (I'm talking 6 gates). Jonathan and I flew out of there last year after we took a side trip on the way home from Disney with my family (how nice was that?). They even closed the snack bar.

Jonathan and I are planning on being there. Not sure how many corns we'll have but we'll have some (probably more than I think) and probably some ball pythons too as well as some supplies. I'm not sure if I'll make it down for Friday setup/swap or not. It all depends on where I get a job and if I have to work that Friday or not (teaching that is). I'd love to do dinner - it would be fun meeting everyone.

Match wits? That youngun was head and shoulders above me. *I* never addressed anyone as "Mister Dude" when *I* was three.

Yeah, I'd really like to make it there this year. Maybe if you and Chuck lock me in the trunk.....

All I ask for is some air holes.

jazz

Heh, we flew into Tampa and rented a car last year. Probably will again. I've made the trip by car from Denver and from Chicago...I'm not raring to do it again. ;)

Yeah, I've already checked into fares...iff'n I wanna go cheap, I'd have to drive down to Midway. Ugh. For an extra Franklin, I could fly "The Best Care In The Air" right out of Mwa-kee....to Orlando, on a Mickey flight. And let's face it, the Disney junkets are just a step above the Vegas and Branson cattle drives.

But hey, a full meal, warm chocolate chip cookies, and leather seats, 2 across just might be worth the extra piasters.

regards,
jazz

Sounds great. We wanted to do that for this year but hadn't started looking around for a place. (Hooray, someone else wants to organize that! It's all yours! :D )

Check around at the different airports all over Florida. Orlando and Daytona seem to cost quite a bit more. It's a couple hour drive from Tampa, not bad at all. Basically the cheaper airfare paid for our rental car, which we were then able to use to go road herping. :)

We ain't got no fives!

Aww man, I'm so excited. I just looked up air fare for a multiple destination trip, so that I can go to Daytona and then swing over to my parents in South Dakota (take care of everything in one vacation.) It is amazingly affordable considering how much traveling I will be doing. I will be there!!! :)

Yep, here is our list;

2/25-26 Repticon
3/11-12 Tampa reptile show
4/22-23 Fl International reptile show
7/7-8 FIRe expo
8/18-20 Natl Breeders expo
11/12-13 Orlando Reptile show

We just include them into our weekend trips around the state, like the Orlando and the Daytona shows will also be the weekends we go to Disney world. The Tampa and Clearwater shows are in my area, so no more travel than a usual weekend at home.

Have you got some links for info on Natl Breeders expo?

animals?

How do you get the animals that you purchase home? Cause they check luggage I hear, so one couldn't hide them in the luggage? I'd hate to spend near a grand for the whole trip! I already know air fare will be just over 300 for me. I checked. And that's with me driving to Minneapolis. Hmmm...I want to go, yet I'm hesitating! We'll see. Too bad I couldn't split a room with someone! We'll see!

I am assuming we will do the overnight thing possibly and send them to a friend of ours back at home who has snakes as well. I hope you can make it! Take care!
