For Carol... "Carol's Girl" and her Babies

Sorry, but I couldn't resist. I know it wasn't funny then, and I'm sure it would be nice to have a less eventful vacation this time.

LOL, it does make a good story. Thank goodness for understanding family!
As far as coming up with names for everyone, try it when you have 100+ :bang:

Devan just named our Hamsters, "Squidward" and "Sandy". The female is really friendly and adventurous, and the male just wants to be left alone. So it fits. :)

100+ names?! Yep, good thing I don't have to do that. Then, they'd probably just get numbers.

Devan thought of some good names for the hamsters. My kids are pretty good at coming up with names for some of the mice. Of course, my daughter would probably name half of them "little" whatever... Little Gold, Little Brown, Little Man, Little Fuzzy. Special Boy was our first tri-color, so that's how she named him. She couldn't decide between that and Rainbow, so he gets two names.

I'll be anxious to hear how the hamsters do and would love to see some pictures!

Cool, I'd love to see a picture of him/her. Sounds really cute. Wish I had some satins.

Now I'm going to hold you to it, so bring that camera with you. :D
Well...here's a couple of pics! They aren't the best because I couldn't get the little ones to stay still long enough! The first picture is of the chocolate colored mouse and the second picture is of the little one with wavy hair. I have NO clue what their technical names would be...LOL

Thanks for the pics. They are both so cute. I have to admit that the first picture is my favorite. How can you not love that cute, little face? I think the white one is a frizzie, but don't hold me to it. :D

No problem! I love mice...and have always loved them. I actually collected mice when I was a little girl (I still have LOTS of them around the house - candles, figurines, etc). It is sometimes quite hard for me to feed the cute little furry things to my snakes!

I find it strange how all of a sudden a "different" gene can pop into a colony. I've been breeding mice from these lines for a year or more now and have never had either of these show up before. It's really cool!

Well it looks like I may just be needing a pair of Black/Tans. I just "hatched" myself a double trouble pair of brown merles!

Carol... I was just thinking of you and taking pictures. Well, I was going to say that Murphy must have heard you ask for a female brown merle, because all I have right now is this little male. Seems that isn't so, because you have two cuties at your place!

Awww... don't you want to save this guy from the CO2 chamber? :D Just teasin' ya. Congrats on the two little brown merles. They are darling.

Carol... Oops, forgot to ask you about the black/tans. How many would you like? Sounds like you might just want a pair?

I have plenty, so you're welcome to a 1.3 or even a 1.4 colony if you'd like. Gosh, I have enough extras for a couple colonies right now. There are also a couple of the grey/tans. Whatever you'd like is fine. Just let me know and I'll save them for you.

HMM, is he a brown or brindle? Hard to tell when they are so little!

Yeah, it's hard to tell when they are small. Well, good question. In looking at the picture, I can see why you asked.

At first glance, he appears to be mostly merle with three main, solid, brown patches... one on his face and the two on his left side near his butt. BUT... the camera really picked up some darker areas that I hadn't noticed.

I'll have to check him out tomorrow in better light, and maybe those areas will become more pronounced in the coming days. It's fun to see their coloring develop as they grow. Thanks for pointing that out. Guess he'll live longer, so I can see how he turns out.

I have a brindle merle female that never ended up being a good breeder. I'm hoping it has nothing to do with her coloring and I have been trying to recreate her.
I think I'll just take one pair of Black/Tans, I have been trying to keep my colonies down. Thank you so much, this is exciting!

NOTE TO SELF: Next time Carol comes up my way ask her to bring cute mice for me!

Those are all great pics guys! I have to admit that I am rather fond of my mice these days. I had bad luck with mean killer mice in the past but I have 4 great colonies right now that I am so happy with. I would love to get a couple of black and tans as well as a couple of merles.

Good luck with those new mice Carol!
