I'm so addicted to....
What in the heck do you do when you see an ad like this. My temper flared big time. I am only posting the corn but trust me the others weren't any better. Makes me want to send a email for sure and ask what the heck

I have 3 snakes that I'm hoping to relocate due to living conditions.

1. Albino Cornsnake - About 4 ft. long, white scales with yellow stripes down the sides, red eyes.
Behavioral note - Extremely gentle and outgoing. Loves to climb trees and shows up mostly at night. Not too fond of bright lights.
Only aggressive when going for 3 or more weeks of not eating. Highly recommended for those who love to interact with animals.

i personally think that a snake of 4 feet can DEFINITELY go 3 weeks without eating, on a regular basis. some of my bigger corns only get fed once a month, and pretty small "maintenence" meals.

are there any pictures? is that all it says? does this guy actually have a clue what he's doing?

I try not to read kijiji and such because I just get mad (although it's usually the dog ads that do it for me).

I'm not sure what the poster means by that or how you take that. It seems to be someone who doesn't really know much about corns (not too fond of bright lights...). I don't assume they sometimes don't offer food for 3 weeks. I'm thinking sometimes it refuses. Maybe they don't have proper heat; maybe just a (bright) light on top. Or maybe in the spring, it goes for awhile without eating and they interpret the increased activity and jitteryness as "aggressive".

If it was me and I was in a position to rescue it, even if only to find it another appropriate home, I would consider taking it.

FAR from the worst I've seen, but I send a quick and POLITE email to the poster letting them know of a good care sheet "to give to their buyer" and wish them luck in selling.

I usually find upsetting CL ads on a regular basis (why I even look, who knows?), but this isn't so bad, at least from some of the others that I've seen. If it's the three weeks of not feeding that seems to bother you, than I wouldn't be too concerned. Given the snake, every three weeks might not be a horrible feeding schedule. That's about what one of my Corn Snakes gets, as he puts on SO much weight with each meal, and even at 3 weeks he still seems to grow fairly rapidly.

I'm one of those watchers lol... Yeh, I get mad at some ppl's posts and actually feel good about rescuing a baby snow from a young girl who thought it was just an albino. It was kept with a hot rock (!) and on sand substrate, with just a large flat rock to hide under, and was in a bad shed (no wonder!)

When housed properly, it drank and drank and I'm sure it thinks it's living in an oasis now ;)
I wasn't mad about the girl or family that kept it, seeing their home tidy and talking to the mother, good ppl, they just were not informed well of corn snake req's being just the one they had. They were 'cat people' and said most of the time a cat would sleep on top the tank, and yeh there was cat hair in the sand lolz.
Do a snake a favor and save it from a possibly unfortunate life by looking on CL occasionally!

I try not to let these ads upset me...although I do have to wonder sometimes. I mean, the other day I was looking and a woman was selling a non registered, non needled "Chawawa" pup for 1000$ at 4 weeks old.
If your trying to sell something for that amount of money(nevermind is borderline too young, and overpriced for a non-paperd, non needled pup), how much trouble is it to know how to spell the animal you keep? and if not, thats fine!!! I can't spell a bloody thing. The internet spells for me. All I have to do is pay attention to when it tells me I'm off. :p
*shrugs* I watch the ad's locally for snakes, because the herp community is pretty small around here. There's a few BP's and Leopard geckos people dont want, but I have to say, for the most part they are properly cared for. Many breeders in my province use a website, and classified ad's as their sole source of advertising (that, and our message board) so its good to go have a peek...or bad...depending on if you SHOULD be getting another herp or not. For example, I just found out the girls I get my feeders from are having a sale on Crested Gecko starter kits...as in, the gecko, a few live feeders of your choosing, the diet (either two part or complete, whichever you choose) and a few other things (plants, substrate etc) for a very reasonable price.
Its cats in a bad way here...poor creatures. Theres alot, and no one to feed them. There is a shelter I voulenteer at that is all cats, and its full most of the time. The sad side of the pet industry.

That is EXACTLY what I mean! :headbang::headbang::headbang:

But I don't even have to go to kijiji to see stuff like that. Just gotta go look on the bulletin board at work.
